How To Monetize A Blog

Before we can learn how to monetize our own blogs it’s important that we know what monetizing a blog consists of. People seem to have a misunderstanding over what monetizing a blog actually is.

The idea behind monetizing a blog is the process in which we customize the blog with ads to make money with our blog. If you’re not attempting to make money with your blog then you’re not monetizing it.

From my point of view every website you own should be monetized to make money, otherwise it is pointless to have and it simply takes up time that you cannot afford.

If this is your case then the below article is for you, but if you just like having some fun sites but your main goal is not to turn a profit from them then just skip this post and go directly to our seo section where you can learn how to do SEO to your site or blog and gain readers / traffic and stuff like that.

Basic Monetizing Principles

If your just starting to monetize your blog for some income then here are a few ways you can do that and get your feet wet.

Adsense

Adsense has long been used as a form of advertisements for monetizing blogs. However adsense only works really well if you receive lots of traffic to your blog already, therefore I suggest that you read our run away from adsense post here.

Banners

Banners are your key to monetizing success, banners are what people will pay for our regular basis. Most banners run at a monthly fee meaning you get a recurring income every month. This is a great way to monetize your blog because the banners you place are going to be relative to your blog and you get to pick and choose what sites you want and don’t want on yours. For some suggestions about banners you may want to check out our banners for success article here.

In Text

In-Text advertising is a new form of advertising which allows you more control over monetizing your blog. Basically the way it works is through programs like kontera which solely provide in-text advertising. In-text advertising is basically text links that have no-follow on them and when you hover on them as a visitor the site appears in a pop-up flash bar. It shows a screenshot of their website and if a visitor clicks on that flash ad you will get a percentage of each click! Anywhere from $.10 to several dollars per click, as you can see this is a great way to monetize your blog as its not in-your-face advertising as most visitors detest.

Text Links

Text links are the old way of monetizing a blog, people would sell text links for page rank, traffic and various other reasons. However now that the Google link penalty is in-place text links are of the past and not worth selling on a website. Instead replace that links section with banners and you’ll have much more success plus a better monthly income.

Reviews

Reviews are a great way to monetize your blog, you can charge any amount per review as long as your blog gets decent traffic and has a decent readership following. I have seen people charge anywhere from $10-$500 per review! Just be sure when doing reviews that you include a few negative ones as well, the reason I suggest this is because people love to jump on the negative bandwagon and there is no better way then with a negative review!

Summing it up

So the main point behind monetizing your blog is to make money, luckily for you we have tons of articles throughout the whole blog which explain various ways to monetize your blog and in turn earn money for those techniques you’re implementing.

One thing to keep in mind is that there is no one way to do it, feel free to experiment with different click and product affiliates, just because it doesn’t work for one person doesn’t mean it won’t work for another. However if your interested check out my Run Away From Adsense article to view my opinion’s on adsense!

Money Well Spent

When it comes to blogging people fail to realize that it takes money to make money, this is an old saying that is still true to this day! We hope you take it to heart and read what we believe are a few money well spent ideas and techniques that you can apply to your own blogs.

Blog Design

A blog design can make or break any blog, there’s so many design choices out there that picking one can be difficult so to get a great design we suggest you hire a professional and ask them to look at other blogs in your industry and make something similar to what they have. Your competition are not the biggest because they don’t know what they’re doing, so we suggest you take what they’re doing and make it better!

Blog Content

We talk all the time about blog content and how important it is to your visitors to have regularly updated and new content added to your blog. If you can’t think of ideas for your blog and you’ve been trying and trying it may be time to spend a little money maybe $10-$15 and get a couple of articles written about your industry. 500 or more words are generally a decent price and you wouldn’t believe how much they’ll help your blog.

I trust MaryMary a DigitalPoint mod, although I hire her because I can not because I cant think of ideas!

Back Links

When it comes to starting a blog, ranking in the search engines is going to be a big part of your traffic, therefore we suggest you buy some back links on relative websites so that you can start ranking in the terms you’re after. In just a few weeks you could be receiving tons of traffic from long and short tail keywords.

Banners

One thing that a lot of bloggers fail to realize is how powerful getting other people to display your banner on their website can be, we suggest getting a couple of banners made of different sizes so that your visitors can grab them and easily put them on their own websites which in turn will generate visitors and traffic to you.

Contests

A great way to spark interest in your blog and get it going quickly is to run a blog contest, any type will do as long as there is a prize for the users in the end. Generally a lot of people should join in and start doing the contest as its easy money for them. You can get back links and more visitors from this which in turn yields advertising sales.

Site reviews

Another great way to create money by spending a little money is to offer website reviews through your blog, you could charge $35 per review and then pay an article writer $15-$25 to write the review. That’s an easy $10-$20 that you can earn with little to no work on your part. Once you get more experience like us you can start charging more for the reviews and do them yourself so they’re more in-depth and cover specific topics that the reviewer wants.

Well… I hope you enjoyed this article on great ways to make money by spending money, feel free to leave a comment below on other tips and techniques that you use!

Page Rank Bleed Down

Page Rank Bleed Down

I have often seen on other forums / blogs in the seo / making money online industry about Page Rank Bleed Down and more importantly how to kick start this process on sub pages for inner page rank. As to why this could be important is beyond me as google is very strict against selling page ranked links so don’t say I didn’t warn you!

But if you just want to know for the sake of knowing then all you need to do is continue reading on! Before we get started lets talk about what PR Bleed Down is, PR Bleed Down is how the Page Rank from your home page is bled down from page to page. Every sub page you create has the potential to gain Page Rank and even out page rank your home page if you do it right!

So when we talk about PR Bleed Down what exactly does that mean? Basically it’s the way in which the Page Rank is accumulated from the homepage and distributed among the different sub pages within your site. A sub page can gain pr by pointing links directly to it or by the homepage linking to it or both. Your page rank power comes from when you apply both a homepage direct link and external links pointing to that new sub page. Without both the page won’t be very powerful and wont rank well in search terms.

So the raises the ever important question, how can I kick start my sub pages to get pr?

• Link To Them From The Home Page
• Submit Them To Social Bookmark Sites
• Cross Link The Sub-pages

If you do those 3 things you will more then likely get a page rank no less then 1 pr below your homepage. Meaning if your a page rank of 5 then your sub-page should be a 4 in the next update. After that, point a few external links to each sub page and be ready to up your page rank even past the home page pr in some cases!

What about you? Can you think of any other tips or ideas for getting your sub-pages PageRank higher? Tell us about them below by commenting!
