Keep The Wheels Going

How to keep new blogging ideas in your brain!

I am often asked how I keep new post coming every day onto the blog. Today I’m going to reveal my secrets and show you a few practical ways to keep your mind going to always have fresh blogging ideas. Be warned that these are just some of the ways I keep my mind fresh and filled with great blogging ideas. Be sure to leave your ideas in the comments section for everyone to benefit.

Since I started blogging I set aside some time each and every week to basically just create articles and store them in quantities for a rainy day, what I mean is I create articles but never publish them. Instead they go into my “to be published folder” I save these articles for those dry spells when I can’t think of any ideas or topics to blog about.

Generally I keep this folder jampacked with a round 10 to 15 articles and I write new articles to replace the published ones as I use them. This way I always have a set of great articles that I can fall back on when I can’t think of any great new ideas or topics to talk about.

In addition I keep a pad of paper with me at all times so that I can write down ideas as they pop into my brain. There’s nothing worse than having an idea pop in and pop right back out just as fast, nor is it very pleasant when you write down an idea but then lose the piece of paper you wrote it down on. I have also found unless I bring a pen with me I can’t write down the ideas anyhow. So I think I may need to get my hands on a smaller pen that can fit within the coils of the notepad.

Another way I get my mind going and thinking of ideas is to just sit back and relax with a nice cup of water or coffee. After five minutes of thinking about nothing more than a piece of white paper my brain has recharged and I start to gain ideas that I would have never thought of unless I relaxed.

Video Blogging Idea Tips?

When it comes to video blogging, jotting down ideas can be a bit difficult. Therefore keeping up with the latest trends and celebrities is a great way to get ideas for your video blogs. What are they doing, how are they doing it and when are they going to stop? These are all questions that are great answer on a video blog!

What about you, how do you get new ideas for blogging on a regular basis?

Consistent Blogging, Is It Important?

 Consistent Blogging, Is It Important?

Today we are going to talk about being consistent with our blogging and how important it either is or isn’t to a blogs success. Being consistent not only means making frequent posts but also what else you do behind the scenes.

So the first question obviously is, is it important to my blogs success to make frequent postings? How often should I make new posts? How can I continue to get ideas so I don’t run dry?

All of the above are great questions and I will try my best to answer each of them. To properly determine how important frequent postings may be we first need to know how often we can or should post.

In my opinion I would make no more then 2 posts per day, but no less then 1 per day.

Why Only 1 Per Day?

Because otherwise you will not have a regular consistent flow of traffic coming from your readers. The key to getting return visitors is to offer them something else that they can relate to and get from you. No one visits a blog to give unless they are interested in getting links back from comments and such. So your focus should be to satisfy your readers, even putting out a letter stating for them to send in questions or ideas is a great way to go about getting new ideas for your blog.

To continue a stream of ideas I do a couple of things, these are just a few things you can do but I have always generated new ideas from this.

First off, I suggest that you read other blogs in your industry. Stick to the top bloggers and read their posts from about 6 months to 1 year ago. Don’t copy what they have just read them and think. Can I explain that better then they did? Will my visitors find that useful? If the answer is yes then you just found a new idea to blog about, but bring it up from a different angle. You don’t want to be caught copying your competitions posts as that just looks cheesy and I am not suggesting that by any means. I am only talking about generating ideas for you to write about.

Secondly you can go through your own posts from some time ago, perhaps create an updated version of the post and point to the old one within your new post. Tell your readers why you’re updating it and if you believe you found out something new to add to your old post. Don’t just edit the old one and hope your readers find it someday, take the initiative and tell your readers in a new post why they need to check it out.

Thirdly you can ask your friends and family to write similar posts to your topic and publish them as a guest poster; this will get them some extra link juice as well as new content for your blog! Guest posting on other peoples blogs is also a great way to build connections in the industry and you will only be helping yourself by doing so. Even if the only blogs that will accept you right now are smaller in general, write for them anyways.

The good thing about guest posting is that you can cover a topic that you have already covered on your blog just with a unique perspective on the post with original new written content. You won’t believe how many people want your content and some are even willing to exchange links or banners as well. Connections are a great way to spark interest for your blog, but that’s another story for another time!

Fourthly start a section on your blog that you can update weekly (not daily) make it something unique that most others are not doing. In my case with InfectedByBugs.com I create a weekly video cast (at least I try to) that allows me to express myself openly for a few minutes at a time. Video is not the only way; you could make a best weekly T-shirt section and just post up a picture of yourself in your best shirt for that week. Whatever your idea is stick to it and be as consistent as possible.

The weird thing about your blog readers is that they want to read what you have to say, but if your not consistent and give them something over and over eventually they can find another blog that does. So don’t think for one second that your readers will be loyal for the sake of being loyal, they will leave in a heart beat if you cannot keep them happy!

I hope you have enjoyed my take on why I believe blogging consistently is important, give us your ideas, tips and techniques for being consistent below by commenting!
