3 Must Do Post Tweaks

3 Must Do Post Tweaks

As blog owners our focus should always be to improve our blogs for the user’s experience. Don’t worry about upping subscriber count or traffic. It’s useless if you don’t do the simple things right. Let’s look at some ways to improve each post we create and how each can help keep our visitors coming back for more!

1. Post Titles: When it comes to blogging and creating unique posts for our blogs the title of each blog post is equally as important as obtaining subscribers. In-fact if your blog post titles are intriguing and helpful you will more then likely generates more clicks then if you don’t. My best suggestion for creating such titles is for you to observe other great blogs in your niche and also to look at sellers on eBay. EBay sellers know how to make there products stand out from the crowd and generate sales. Likewise we can take those same techniques to generate a better overall experience for our readers.

2. Intriguing Content for Links: Like I already stated above, as bloggers we need to focus on our sites and let the other stuff take care of it. Another great way to do this is by learning to create content that people want to link to. This is also known as link baiting, but don’t look at it from and seo point of view. One of the best ways I have learned to do this is by reading the newspaper on Sunday morning. The newspapers know how to get your attention in the body text. They know what words to bold, italicize, enlarge etc… They have learned these techniques over years and years of testing and re-testing. You get to learn them by simply dissecting what they do and apply that to your blogging.

3. Interlink Posts: Another great tip to keep visitors on your blog is to interlink your posts, if you can learn ways to interlink your posts effectively you will increase your interlinking which not only helps your readers to find other important posts and sections in your blog, but it helps the search engines dig into your site deeper which increases ranking authority. I took care of this by installing a word press mod which displays 5 other top posts in a specific category of my choosing. This was one of my top 5 favorite plugins, but it was paid. However you can do this just as easily by simply linking to your other posts.

If you start learning these habits now, by the time you blog becomes famous and you hit the big time you will be grounded as a great blogger because of what you do. Then you can run back to this blog and thank them for providing the best info on the net!

Writer Distractions

Writer Distractions

As bloggers we need to learn how to write without distraction, distraction is one of the worst things we can get into. We lose our train of thought and the ideas become very limited, I have experienced this countless times in the past but have always gotten out of it.

Today I want to discuss some basic ways to remove the distractions you didn’t even know were distractions. If you’re looking at blogging from a fun point of view while making some money then you need to take blogging seriously. Your blog needs time and attention to become a great resource for visitors to come to.

You may very well be in the midst of writer distraction and you don’t even know it, let’s take a look today!

Cell Phone

One of the biggest distractions is your cell phone / telephone. People don’t seem to realize how time consuming a cell phone can be. Especially those darn cell phone txt people that don’t know left from right!

Bottom line, when your about to start writing turn that darn cell phone off and get focused on the job at hand. Setting your focus is the most important thing you can do. Be determined and fulfill that need to write that’s yearning inside of you!

Email

Another distraction that eluded me for years was the fact that I would be checking and replying to emails while trying to write articles. I learned my lesson fast on that one; I would lose my train of thought and end up re-writing sections if not whole articles over it. If I would have just finished the article and then done the email checking I would have pumped out much better articles in a timely manner.

Family/Friends/Co-Workers

One of the great things about blogging is the fact that you can do it anywhere, coffee shop, restaurant, airport, closet, library anywhere really. As long as they have an internet connection you can do your work. I find it easiest to do this work from my own office and just shut my doors, turn on some music in the background and start typing away.

However if your at work and your blogging co-workers may interrupt you, if this happens why not tell them I will be their in 5 minutes, just let me finish something up. If they can’t respect you enough to give you 5 minutes then they can’t really be called a co worker, they are a slave driver!

As you can see, I have had problems with distractions in the past and I am sure to come across more in the future. However now that I know they are distractions I try my best to avoid them at all costs. You can do the same and keep the articles flowing with out distraction!

Guaranteed Blog Contest Ideas!

Guaranteed Blog Contest Ideas!

If you have been reading my blog long you have probably noticed that I offer a lot of free giveaways and contests on the blog. I do this for a specific reason, I want to become a great blog and the best way to do that is get what my blog has to say into the hands of readers.

But today we are going to talk about how to get readers in the form of contests on a blog. I want to share with you 3 guaranteed ways to get readers for your blog. These contest ideas I use myself and that’s how I know they work fairly well!

Blog Review Contest

The first contest type we are going to discuss is blog reviews. Basically the way these contests work are simple, you ask your readers to make a blog post on their own blogs about your blog. Tell them the more details and links you point to me the better your chances are of winning.

The bloggers who decide to enter the contest generally will do a good job on the post and these types of links are perfectly fine in the search engines eyes. Offer prizes such as paypal cash, iPod, free advertising and such, people will participate if the prizes are good!

Giveaway Contests

The next contest type is the giveaways; I generally use giveaways to get more subscribers to the site. Simply tell people that by subscribing to your blog they are automatically entered into a free drawing to win $25.00 an IPod, whatever your giveaway might be.

In your giveaways its best to either give away CASH or some product that relates to your readers. Giving a baby blogs readers an IPod won’t help as much as a gift card for BabysRUs. Stick with me on this one and you can’t help but get lots of subscribers out of the deal!

Top Commenter Contests

Next and finally is a Top Commenter contest, having an active blog is what it’s all about. By getting people to comment on your blog regularly you will automatically start to gain more and more subscribers plus higher traffic numbers. Tell people that the top commenter for xx number of days gets $15.00 paypal cash! You won’t believe how many people love paypal cash and will start commenting just for fun!
