Narrow Your Focus

The other day I wrote a similar post to this one and guest blogged it on JohnCow, you can take a look at that post right here. I got a very good response from it there and thought my readers would like the chance to read it here as well. So I am writing a unique version just for myself!

When we talk about a narrow focus we are talking about putting multiple project ideas to the side for later on. So many of us go buy that new domain, start a new business idea even though all the other ones we start seem to fail in the long run.

As bloggers we need to stay focused on our blogs if we ever want to turn a profit with them, blogging is about patients these days as we are no longer the pioneers of the industry. So many people blog its easy to get lost in the shuffle. However one of the key things to staying above the game is to focus on what your doing. If you do not focus someone else will be and you may get left to the side by a better blogger who knows how to focus on the blogging at hand.

I know its difficult, especially for those working other jobs away from blogging till your blog takes off. Just remember that blogging is about perseverance being different and stay ahead of the game.

I hope through my little ranting you get my drift of what is truly important “Focus On Your Blog”. If you don’t focus your readers visitors will notice and perhaps leave or even worse tell a freind that the quality has dropped which is one of the worst things that can happen seing as how word of mouth is so powerful.

5 Reasons People Blog

People around the web and in fact worldwide blog for multiple reasons. Today I am going to outline a few of them I believe are good reason to be blogging. Be sure to tell me what your thoughts and the reason you blog by commenting on the post!

People Like To Talk – Its a proven fact that us humans enjoy relationships and talking with people of the same interests as us. We should take this into thought when we blog and be sure to ask your readers questions to spark there interest, do not be afraid to throw them a curve ball every now and again as well.

People Want To Learn – One of the main reasons I started blogging was to learn more about my topic while I taught others what I already know and what I will be learning. People use a blog as a starting point to track results and they can come back months or even years later to see how there progress has come along.

People Enjoy Controversy – People love to be a pain in the butt, people like to get on your nerves and they think they are all that for doing so. Use this to your advantage by asking your readers to talk with you on a specific high controversy subject such as politics. It can create some mad buzz for your blog, remember no press is bad press when just starting out a blog.

People Like To Complain – I have noticed that users like to complain about what they are not getting on your blog. Take this feedback and give them what they need. I generally answer a lot of questions via email but if a question strikes me as important or very relative to my blog I post it and answer it for many to read. This gets my extra content (serp love) and it helps all those that are asking the questions. Just remember in an open venue such as a blog to know what your talking about or you will only get more complaints!

People Want To Earn Money – I have talked about this touchy subject before, people like to blog because they can make money doing it. There is nothing wrong with making money but when blogging remember that it should never be the main goal. In my opinion if it is your main goal your content will suffer and you may not get what you were after in the first place. Just blog for the sake of blogging and the money will flow naturally all by itself!

125 x 125 Banner Exchange Program (Part 1)

As bloggers we should always be looking for more ways to gain traffic readers to our blogs. The more traffic we get the better chance we have of converting those visitors into readers on a regular basis. Today I am going to talk about the 125Exchange program that I came across a few days ago.

Basically the way the program works is you create a free account, then you upload your own 125 x 125 banner to your user panel. They allow you up to 3 different ads to run at the same time, this is great for a few reasons like “Granny” says in an email we sent to them.

The best thing would be to upload an entirely different ad and let the system display them. One will probably get more clicks. Then, keep removing the lower performing ad and replacing it with something different, always trying to improve on the best ad. Through this experimentation process you will definitely get to 1.00% click rate or better. We actually have people over 4.00%.

After your ads are up you can then grab the copy/paste code before you do that they they ask you to select some relative categories for your blogs niche. The categories you choose will then be coded into the copy/paste html your given making it easy for you and the monitors of the program to ensure everyone has relative categories working for them.

After you have the code you can place it on your blog in numerous ways such as your footer, sidebar, header or even directly in a post if you wish. The possibilities are endless and they use a Iframe code ensuring even those who don’t have javascript installed still see the ads making it very user friendly all the way around.

As “Granny” would say.

Please experiment. You should see the difference. Ads should draw and create curiosity. In other words and ad that say “SEO tips” is a statement, an and that says “Did you hear the latest SEO techniques” peaks a question of curiosity. Just think like the major advertisers.

After some talking with Granny from 125Exchange I have decided to give it a go and have replaced 1 of my 4 sidebar ads that people buy from me. This way I can see how the banner ads do for myself and others, I will be tracking my progress and most likely post a follow up to this if I see any good or bad results from the program.

I have heard tales from others I know using the program that it has brought in lots of new readers and viewers so lets hope the same goes for my blog! If you want to try this system out for yourself just visit one of the links I gave to the site above, please be sure and leave your comments, questions and results below by commenting so everyone can learn!
