If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Have you ever started a website built it up and then sold it for a profit? Today I sold a site that I had built from the ground up and it never made any money for me as I never listed ads on it but I ended up making about $300.00 on the site which made me happy!

The site was www.SocialDanger.com you have probably seen me talk about it in my various social bookmarking posts around the IBB blog. Well I just did not have anymore use for it, I wanted to start a social site as a test but it never worked for what I wanted. With that said it did grow into an awesome site with over 10,000 users. Granted some of those are spam bots but the majority I would say at least 50% are real true members!

The guy who bought the site got it for a bargain but I sold it cheap because I am unsure what sort of revenue the site can make as I never listed any ads on it at all.

I am marking down the $300.00 as profit made this month and it will go on my July earning report which I will give you all at the end of this month. I am expecting a big month, hopefully over 1k with my online work.

Stay tuned for more great posts from me and be sure and subscribe to this blog for the best MMO tips on the net!

Or so I have been told anyhow…

Intellectual Marketing!

By Shannon Lilly | 3 Comments

An infopreneur is defined as one who sells info products. You can sell your info products via the Web, via blogs, sites and lenses! Article Marketing continues to be the best method for getting exposure and traffic to your sites, blogs and lenses! Create blogs on Blogger or Wordpress. Create as many blogs as possible. Also create lenses on Squidoo. I created 23 blogs on Blogger and 24 lenses on Squidoo.

From your Squidoo lens, give links to your blogs and sites. From my main Squidoo Lens, I have given links to my main blog and to my main site!

One blog post is more or less 200 words. Convert 3 or 4 blog posts into one article. You already got content. All you have to do is to edit it and lol! You have an article! After creating an article out of blog posts, you can Post the article to your Squidoo Page Post the article to your site.

  1. Email the article to subscription lists
  2. Send it to article directories
  3. Send it to article submission lists

Immense are the benefits of Article Marketing! The e-article has been defined by Ron Knolton as the ultimate promotional tool and it is this tool which will get you traffic.

If you convert blogs posts into articles, you can have as many as 1000 articles per month. Your articles will give you tremendous exposure, generate leads and get you the much needed traffic for your blogs, lenses and sites!

The Benefits of Article Marketing

  1. Lead Generation
  2. Increased traffic
  3. Increased Rankings ( Alexa traffic rankings, Google Page Rankings, Yahoo Inbound links etc )
  4. Positioning you as an expert

Your articles will appear on the article directories and these articles will get you traffic. My YBL (Yahoo Inbound links) for my main site, www.eastrovedica.com was 1800 last year and in one year of Article Marketing, it has gone upto 18000 YBL, a tenfold increase! If you have Adsense ads, Adbrite ads etc on your sites, blogs and lenses, you can benefit from adrevenue. Just get traffic to these blogs, sites and lenses and your adrevenue will go up!

I have created promotional lists, a list of article submission centers, social bookmarking sites and blog submission centers & you can make use of my promotional lists. Submit your blogs to these blog submission centers! Submit your web and blog pages to these social bookmarking sites! Submit your articles to these article submission centers!

Good Luck with Intellectual Marketing!

Blogging Fireworks!

By Shannon Lilly | 3 Comments

I hope you all in the USA like me had a great July 4th yesterday! Its great to celebrate your country and for what it has done and achieved, it got me thinking about fireworks since that is what we pretty much all do on July 4th. Anyhow I got to thinking what sorta ways really spark interest in a blog quickly sort of like how a firework takes a few seconds to build up and then whoosh the show begins!

So here are a few of my thoughts on the subject, but remember you can always search my site for in-depth articles on these same subjects!

Catchy Business Name - You wouldn’t believe how quickly a blog or general business for that matter can take off with the right name. Granted it is harder to find a really good name these days because they are nearly all taken but with that said you can always pick a good name that draws attention to it!

Write Effective Post Titles - When writing a blog post its important to have a title that stands out from the crowd. The title does not always have to make sense either (although it helps), it just needs to draw attention to people in social bookmark sites like digg. If you can pull that off right you will get more traffic then your server can handle and then its time for an upgrade :)!

Write An Awesome Heading - The heading is the text or first few sentences of your post, this is the most important part of your actual post content because this is what people on other sites will read. Mainly directories, rss grabbers and of course social bookmarking sites. Aside from those its still important to have a good title because it will either encourage or discourage a person to continue reading down the post.

Use Images In Posts - That’s right, I suggest using images here and there especially on important posts that you want readers to read. Images are like video in that they have a draw quality if placed right, experiment with positions until you find what brings your readers further down into each post!

Well there you go all you faithful readers of mine, I just threw down 4 tips that most bloggers would charge you for during a consultation meeting! I know, I know your grateful and seriously don’t worry just SUBSCRIBE to my rss feed or to boogie monster will be coming to your house tonight! Yes I do know him personally, he is green and scares all the little kids in my neighborhood!

 July 4th, 2008

So about a week or so ago I made a post about how I was going to start a brand new company and document my success / failures to getting it to the point where it makes some money online.

Today I am updating you all on the progress of the idea, how much I have spent so far and exactly what I have been doing to get the ball rolling. I am not rushing anything as I want to make sure its all spot on by the time its done.

The first thing I did was purchase a license of CubeCart 4 the latest and greatest version of the software. Back in the day I used to code templates for it and my mom also runs a small business online and she uses CubeCart to sell her products. The license for this php script was $89.95, not that bad considering its the best out there and I know how to us it!

The only problem I am facing with this purchase is the fact that the mod I need to allow multiple sellers to check the sales and see if they have been paid for them yet is only for cubecart version 3. If I had know this before hand (I could have looked) I would have just went with cc3 instead, which I may still do because I need that mod in order to do what I want with the website.

But doesn’t matter as I have went to the liberty of taking back of CubeCart Modding & Skinning as a potential source of income online. You can view my CubeCart Store here and hopefully I will make a name for myself in the CC world very soon!

That aside, after I got the license and installed the script I designed a custom logo and skin for the site, I don’t have the site up right now as I want to get products and such in before I do, therefore here is a screenshot of the skin as it is right now!

I wanted the design to have the orange look to it as I like orange sites and believe the are very professional looking. You can see the logo I showed you in the first part of this series is up-top doing its job wonderfully.

As I mentioned before my plan is to get people to create the DVDs for a simple 50% split when the DVD sells. Thus far I have concentrated on PHP developers as I want to offer a PHP basics course on the site. I PMed and emailed around 25 or so and got nearly as many replies back. However although a few said they would but they can’t as there PCs cannot handle recording a video (not enough ram) I have had no luck in finding someone to do the PHP Basics Course DVD.

I will continue to look but my plans over the next two to 3 weeks are to contact 25-30 photoshopers for a couple different photoshop courses. I also plan to contact some DreamWeaver and Flash designers so I can offer basic website design training. These are all plans and I could not get around to any of them but at this time I am taking every spare moment and putting it into this site so I don’t think things will take to long to get going.

The last thing I want to talk about is what my plans for the next 2-3 weeks on the site itself are! Basically my plans are to either get someone to switch the vendors mod for cc3 to cc4 (not done yet) or downgrade the site and rebuild the skin for cc3 and purchase the cc3 vendors mod and use it on the site until its upgraded to cc4 of which I can then upgrade later on.

I would also like to get the support forum up and running, although it won’t have any members posting I can get it up and let it start ranking in the serps which is good for seo as the longer its up the better.

I also plan to rework the text on all the pages and ensure everything is explained properly including the fact that we offer every product as an instant download if they so choose.

That’s another thing, I have to figure out the download system and how I will get the system to automatically create them a User-name & Password to login and download the video files. It needs to be automatic I think, otherwise people will complain that its not instant. I know it can be done but I may have to hire a custom developer for that (which would be a big bummer).

Well thats about it, this is probablly one of the longest posts I have written on IBB as of yet. Although its not 100% for you guys right now I think in the months to come you will all look back on these small updates and see how I have been trying to show you that its not about making money one day or even completing a site in 1 week.

Its all about going up the mountain one step per day and being as persistent as possible till you reach success! Thank you all and stay tuned for tomorrow’s post which will be more tips for blogging and making money online! L8R! :)

 July 3rd, 2008

Alright so this last week I had a post entitled Offline Promotion Techniques but all I did on it was plug my buddies live show where he talks about mmo and all sorts of fun stuff everyone should be learning.

Although I am glad I did that I neglected you all by not providing any actual tips or techniques for it so today I am going to reverse that and post about some real techniques you can use TODAY if you want!

Lets get started, as you can see I am not in the mood to waste time today :)

Flyer’s/Business Cars: Lets face it, nearly everyone is interested in something and we can take advantage of that. One way you could be very successful in getting new subscribers / direct traffic is by making up a couple thousand flyers and then put them on every ones car in the parking lot. Just make sure there is no security around when you do it coz they will ask you to leave. (PS, Don’t you dare put one on my car, just email me and I’ll visit!).

Tshirts: I have talked about this before and you can still do it fairly cheap, make up a couple dozen Tshirts and give them to family and friends / other bloggers in your niche. Ask them to wear them and maybe even take a pic and send it to you for the world to see. A lot of people will probably take you up on that and its worth every penny a shirt costs if you can get it into the right hands.

Get On The Radio: People to this day still love to listen to the radio in there cars at work and dozens of other places. You can use this to your advantage by calling up the radio station and ask them how much a 30 second plug would be to advertise your business. It may be expensive to some but the return you get from it could be great, depends what the audience is really.

Give Away Free Cookies / Lemonade: OK so this one is a bit weird but guess what IT WILL WORK! All you have to do is go to your local library and setup a small table with your laptop (make sure you have a Internet connection) and have a basket or box of cookies with some lemonade. Tell people you will give them one or the other for free if they sign up to your blog which is about blah blah blah. You may get a couple who unsubscribe when they get home but most likely they will stick around and remember that free cookie you gave them!

And that’s about it for now, there are literally dozens of ways you can market via offline promotion. These are just a few of my favorite ones!
