I am so sick and tired of seeing people complain about their blogs not making money. I am also tired of the lie that you won’t make money on a blog until you reach a certain subscriber count or until your blog is big enough to warrant it.

These are all lies and I am just sick and tired of it!

Today I am complaining but its my right so be quiet! Here is the thing, people want you to think that making money online is hard and strenuous work, when the fact is if you have ever worked outside in the heat on a 80+ degree day for 4-5 hours you know what hard work really is.

I live in Texas so I know what real hard work is, that’s why I can truthfully tell you that this online stuff is a piece of cake in comparison to real work, why do you think people can run several online business and not just one alone? Its because they have time and lots of it on their hands, granted if you waste the time watching online tv or playing games on your pc then you won’t make much headway but that’s another story.

So we have covered that online work is not hard right? All you need is a plan and you can start right away, but wait a minute, what about making money if you cant wait 6 months – 1 year to start making money off a project. You keep saying I need cash now, please help me! I get questions like this all the time and I know from talking to other bloggers they get similar questions.

SHUT UP!

Its not impossible to make money off a blog or any site for that matter within the first month even first week a site goes live. It all comes down to your work ethic and how much you put into it, I am 100% sure if you treated blogging like you treat your full time job (being on time in the morning, and showing respect to the customers as well as working hard so you don’t get fired) then you would see benefits and gains quite quickly. Don’t believe me? No worries I have proof!

I have two stories to tell you about, the first is about myself and this very blog your reading.

When I started it just over 1 year ago I had the same thoughts you have about making money from it. However I was determined for it to make me some money even if it was just enough to pay for the hosting. Well I worked hard and I made posts every single day, I never missed for the first couple of months. That hard work paid off because not 3 months into blogging I was already making about $50/mo off this blog. Since then this blog has continued to make, more and more so I know its possible.

The second story I have for you is about the fact that you need to reach a certain amount of subscribers to be considered in the big leagues. Its such a false statement and I would like to know who started it?

I made my money when I was only at around 125 subscribers which took me 3 months to get, although a 125 seems small the companies advertising with me obviously didn’t.

I am sorry for the rant post but I just needed to say it!

I have tons of new content and videos coming up for you guys because 2009 is my year and I aim to make it my best year ever! You can help to, grab an advertisement on my site I am 100% sure you will be happy with the purchase!

Hey Guys, As you all know I have had a Mascot for InfectedByBugs for the longest time!

Well I finally found someone who could make decent mascots for a good price and I sent him an email.

5 Tips for Drawing Attention

Everyone wants more traffic and drawing attention to a post is not easy but if you follow my tips you should have success in generating buzz for your posts!

There are several things we can do to draw attention with our posts. These techniques may not work in every situation but if you use a mix of them on each post you should see traffic come in on a regular basis.

Post Titles – They could be the one most important thing that encourages a click or not. If your title is not right then don’t expect any traffic to come (unless your very lucky). I have written about this many times in the past, one time on the 3 must do post tweaks post we had.

Sub Text – Not every blog uses snippets on the front-page like I do here on IBB but for those that do, a sub text is the short 250 character snippet that is shown on the front-page. If that snippet is not intriguing people may not click on the ads. One thing I have noticed is that when you use snippets your page-views per month will go up!

Use Images – Another great way to generate traffic but more importantly keeping them on your site is to use images within your post, it draws there eyes down into the post and hopefully they are more likely to stay on your site for awhile.

List Posts – People love easy to follow lists, by making a list post you could generate some extra buzz, a list post is basically what I am doing here with the post you are reading!

Consistency Is Key – One of the main things you can do to create extra buzz / traffic is become consistent in your blogging, try to do 3-5 posts per week (if you get a fair amount of comments) that way your blog looks active and not just full.
