Adsense After 1 Month

If you all haven’t already noticed by now, I have been running Adsense on this blog for just under 1 month now. I put adsense on this blog mainly for testing purposes after a friend of mine urged me to try it again with a couple of his tips at work.

While I am all for making more money off this blog I have never had much success with Adsense on any website so I have basically brushed it off to this point as a useless source of income.

After much deliberating I added it onto the blog beneath my posts hoping that those who read the posts would then click on the adsense hence making me money. After 7 or so days I noticed that I only got 1 click on the ads which was a CTR % of basically nothing for the amount of traffic I receive.

null

Next I tried adding the Adsense above the post so it was the first thing you saw before you started reading.

I then waited another 7 days and noticed that I received about 3 clicks on the ads. While thats certainly not HUGE it was a better CTR % for the traffic I had on those days (non posting days I might add).

Since starting Adsense on IBB just under 1 month ago I have generated about $13.00 in a month. (YIPPE!)

OK so its not huge but we have to start somewhere!

My goal is to continue tweaking the ads until they get to the point where I am making about $50/mo off them from this blog, I get enough traffic that I believe it is possible to do (you can help by clicking, just don’t tell that to google).

That brings me to the actual point of this post, I am sure you all have questions about Adsense and since I have been decently successful for my first month with it on this blog I thought I would reveal my 5 Adsense tips that should help you all make money with it!

Are you ready?

Above The Fold- Adsense seems to work best if you put it above or IN the content you provide. The reason this works is simple, people are lost when they come to your website so what do you want them to click on? Make it clear that they can click on the adsense by putting it above the fold!

Match Your Colors- The biggest Adsense tip I can give is this, people tell you all the time to place adsense but they never tell you about the customization option google gives you for the ads. Its important to note that you should match the link color and text / background color of the ads to that of your blog. By making it blend in visitors may click on it out of curiosity where as if its bold and stands out they can see its an add and they may not click on it.

Get That CTR% Up!- When it comes to adsense the key is your CTR %, work hard to get that up. You do this by testing and re-testing what works and what doesn’t, ad positions colors and types all can affect your CTR % so try until you get at least 5% or more!

Learn What A Channel Is!- When I first started with adsense I had no idea how to separate my ads by site so I could track which site got a click and which didn’t. The formula for this is called channels in your adsense panel, it will take some getting use to but I could maybe write a post on it if you comment below telling me you want it!

Explorer the Adsense panel- Its important to know what google offers you in the form of tools and tricks via the adsense panel, spend some time trying things and learning what all the offer, there is some goldmine stuff in their!

I wanted to know your thoughts on Adsense, is it worth be running it on my blog or should I try out kontera or other programs like that, I want Adsense to work but I won’t beat a dead horse either!

Do you ever get discouraged or how about just plain tired of everyone posting goals on the net that they never reach? Its a sad fact that most people set goals but they have nothing backing them up. Today I have a little story to share with you. This story is true and if you apply the same principal to your blogs you can reach your goals no matter the size and always come out on top! Here is the story!

“There was a young man who went to college, the day he got to his dorm room he nailed a beautiful golden V on the door. He never told anyone why or what the golden V was for even though they asked him time and time again, he simply replied saying “Just Wait”. He spent time each and every day cleaning and polished this V on the door until his last day of college. He graduated as the class Valedictorian!”

What do you think that V stood for now?

This young man had the goal of being the best in the class and he kept that goal in mind by cleaning the V every day. It kept him focused and he never gave up on his goal because he knew within himself he could reach it by the end of his graduation.

Now am I saying you should get a nice golden MMO sign on your door? No, I am simply saying that if you set a goal and you remind yourself every single day that you can reach it if you work hard and take the necessary steps then in no time at all you will reach whatever your goal may be.

Goal setting is so powerful, you really have no idea what your capable of until you set a goal. The funny thing is that once you reach one goal, you set your next goal even higher. Even professional athletes set goals, if I can make a 8 ft high jump then next I can make a 8ft 1 inch high jump.

Another story you can think about is this…

For years it was a big myth that nobody could run a mile in under 5 minutes, until one day this one guy did it in just under 5 minutes. Since then, the record has be cut down more and more, the reason this is possible is because of hope or vision. If you believe you can do something chances are you probably can (with the right people around you to help).

Problems Will Happen, Deal With It!

If you are already running or considering starting up your first blog then get ready for problems.

They are part of the blogging life-style and it really depends on you for the out-come. Lets start with a little story, so I had been working on the new IBB theme for a couple of days and I was finally ready to go live with it. I went live with it only to find out that the cool featured posts was not working, it simply displayed them all in one long row instead of with the javascript fade in and out like its suppose to.

Now I could have easily lost my cool and gone berserk and kicked some furniture but that simply would not solve my problem. Instead I took the advice of one of my favorite vloggers on the net Gary Var-Ner-Chuk and instead of pouting I dealt with it and continued on with my day after I sent an email asking the co-developer of the theme what was wrong.

That brings me to the point of this post, we need to have our priorities straight if we want to run a successful business that is sure to work. Remember, sugar works better then salt in business and you can certainly take that to the bank!

Cool Off – When a problem arises, instead of dealing with it right then wait 30 minutes and think about what you want to say. If your still REALLY mad after 30 minutes you may have good cause but remember, people respond better to a kind email or phone-call then they do to the all guns blazing approach!

Be Courteous – If you really want someone to respond when a problem arises that should have been avoided then being courteous is like Gold. If you respect someone enough to be patient with them while they fix a problem they have caused they will not only get the job done quicker but they will be more willing to continue working with you and possibly get more people to know about you because word of mouth is powerful and it only takes 1 tweet to thousands of people to grow readerships in the blink of an eye!

Limit Your Words – If you are mad about something I find it best to limit my words and sentences to people and they get the message that they need to help me right now or I won’t be satisfied. This can be a bit brutal but I still think its better then cussing someone out because they made a mistake on something they did for you.

Forgive & Forget – Once the problem is solved its time to forget it and move on, that does not mean you have to use that person again for work but it does mean that you never go around bad mouthing them because they made a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes and just think what you would feel like if someone went around telling people about your mistakes. My guess is you would not be to happy so do the right thing and forgive and forget!

Remember – Lastly guys remember, when it comes to people no matter the age they will always remember what you do to them, so if that’s the case wouldn’t you rather leave them with a smile then a frown? I want to know that I treated every person I could with respect no matter what they have done to me. Its all about your mind-set and how you deal with things, it may not seem important right now but just wait, in a few years you all will get it!
