SEO, Blogging and Make Money Online

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Generally I don’t tend to talk a whole lot on how to improve your actual blog writing as I believe the way you write is up to you as a blogger, its what makes each of us different and unique. If you want to have bad spelling and grammar mistakes you should be allowed to, this may seem like a prehistoric thought on my part but I believe its essential to let readers decide who, what and why they want to write a blog.

At the same time I receive a lot of questions and emails asking me how to improve blog writing and all the jazz I don’t care to write about however I have decided it was a good time to break into this world and start offering up some basic tips on the idea and hopefully we can get everyone up to pace with what is and is not acceptable when blogging.

Today we are talking about a bloggers voice, you may be asking what I mean by bloggers voice? Basically when a visitor comes to your blog what message is relayed to them? I am not talking about design either, really it just boils down to writing style and possibly the format of your posts.

I have tinkered with different ways of formatting posts till I found something that looked good and got my message across rather quickly. I hate to have my time wasted so I took the same approach to my blog. I see no sense in wasting someones time if its not necessary. GET TO THE POINT ALREADY!

With that said it is important to develop a particular voice for your blog. First lets look at some big name moguls and what voices they have. Remember a voice is simply the message that you relay to your visitors and the search engines.

For my first example I will bring your attention to the JohnChow Dot Com Blog. Johns voice is very outgoing, he basically has said that he is going to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants to and the search engines can do nothing about it. While that is true John was taken out of the search index for disobeying the rules of google’s link penalty. However it paid off for John as he now has a rss readership of over 20,000 subscribers and makes a killing through advertisements.

For another example lets look at ShoeMoney, he has a particular voice as well, do you know what it is? From what I can see ShoeMoneys voice is one of reason, he likes to dig up dirt and reveal untruthful things on his blog. Remember people love controversy and ShoeMoney creates that by unveiling lies and even truths in some cases.

Just in these two examples you can see that both have there own DISTINCT voice that no other blogger has. I have talked with both these guys in the past and John just puts on a big show and acts tough. “He is really a soft teddy bear inside and loves to help people out”. ShoeMoney appears easy going on the outside with his shaved head and black frames. However if you get on his bad side he will make you pay for it.

These distinct qualities make these guys who they are and I for one am thankful for it. I have learned so much from both and I relay that info to you all in my own voice. To sum all this ranting up, answer these questions by commenting below!

  • How would you describe my voice?
  • Do I need to refine my voice more, Does my blog relay what I am truly like?

Please answer these below so I can ensure my blogs voice is distinct and different then any others. I believe it is but this is why you all are here (to prove me wrong).

After you answer those questions I leave it in your hands. I have provided some basic info about a bloggers voice and its importance. Now its your time to take that knowledge and make your own voice that people want to listen to, are you up for the challenge?

Finding the “write” voice can be so difficult, especially when one is a blogger for hire. Thanks for this great article. I will keep it in mind on my journey through the blogosphere.

I find that the blogs that keep me returning are the ones that have a voice … so many blogs are very bland.
