Yesterday I talked about the ways you shouldn’t be building backlinks but today I want to show you what you can and should be doing to keep the search engines happy along with your rankings!
Lets begin…
Link Bait - Link bait is simple, you create something that people want to link to. Its Automatic (blogs are perfect for this), it will take some research time but once you know your audience the rest is like eating pie!
Directories - Directory submissions have been around for a really long time, it has not change and you should still submit to directories whenever possible!
Article Submissions - Articles Submissions is a new topic for this blog to talk about, I have never needed to do it for this blog but I have done it for clients in the past, it truly is a quality way to build links the engines LOVE!
You might be saying to yourself “Wait that’s it?” YES! Link building is really not that hard, and if you want to do things the right way you won’t need to BUILD BACKLINKS, people will do it for you!
There are more ways to gain links that the search engines like but these should get your started and keep you busy for quite a while. However I would love to hear any other ways you believe are good quality link building methods!

I have heard that it is easy to buy 1 way links that are related to my website, but I have also heard that Google is “frowning” upon purchased links. I don’t buy any links any more.
What do you think are the best places to submit articles for free?

Submit to Ezine Articles, it will get you backlinks and possibly some traffic.
I submit to about 30 directories per day and think that it benefits, but it takes time to show, especially when some directory owners have thousands of links to approve.

I’ve been slacking off on directory submissions … time to get back on track with that (as boring as it can be, it’s still a good idea).

Well, link building is one of the most important aspect of SEO and we can’t take that away from the equation. However, I beg to differ on directory submission as I believe it’s just a complete waste of time..How often we really get the link juice from our submission?

Link building sure is important. My goal for my site (youth in action mag) is to have 1000 backlinks by mid 2009.

I’m not so sure is it really worth to submit your site to directories, (I don’t talk about DMOZ), because most of them has only pr0-pr2 and the page in which your link will be placed almost always has pr0 or pr n/a, so I don’t see much value of this

I recently came across a blog post I dont remember which one, which said you need nearly:
15 PR ‘n’ links –> to get PR ‘n’
3 PR ‘n+1′ links –> to get PR ‘n’
etc..
Is this true?? Just wanted your say on this one..

I think submitting to article directories can also generate more traffics to your site, the most popular one is Ezine, it is highly ranked in the search engine.

Here’s my formula: I write an article put it on my website and mail the link to my mailing list. It and rewrite the article completely and put it on my new blog. I don’t rewrite the article again and submit it to five top article directories and wait. This is therefore be bringing me back links to but only see significant traffic after I’ve submitted quite a few articles. It’s all about adding content.
