About 2.5 weeks ago I got some free Business Cards printed through VistaPrint. All I had to do was pay $2.00 to have a blank white back on the cards and of course the shipping charge was like $6.00.
It really was a good deal and I am glad I did it, I just got something simple to start with. Here is a picture of the business card.

As you can see its a simple design but it gets the job done for now. However in the future I do plan on including my mascot on the design and hopefully get some custom text on it instead of just arial.
With that said I did want to thank VistaPrint for the free cards and no VistaPrint did not pay me to plug them, I just wanted to thank them.
I also am now at a dilemma…
I don’t go to blogging conventions (yet) so I don’t really have the opportunity to pass out business cards. I am not sure I would pass these ones out as they are more of a personal card then anything.
My question to all of you is simple, how would you get your business cards out to people that will actually go to your blog if you don’t go to the conventions?

Nice cards. My wife got some printed at vistaprint and we were really pleased with them too.
There are all kinds of ways to get your cards out. If you were planning on just getting them out to anybody, there are several ways to go about that. A well designed card with your blog name “Infected By Bugs” would make many people curious, and you would probably get you a lot of traffic that you wouldn’t normally get. Anyway, for that purpose, you can just drop them on the floor at a mall, leave some on a counter at the gas stations or convenience stores, just randomly hand them out to strangers…
For your personal cards, I can’t really help too much. Sorry.
Ummm … not sure why anyone would want my business card unless I’d met them personally?
I think business card is no longer a luxury but a necessity if you ask me. However, I don’t know if it’s just me, I just think that it’s too plain for a business card.

I have no idea what you can do to give out those cards. Maybe you better get to the conventions?
@Shane: I think business card is a piece of you that you leave on another person…I always like the idea of a card that tells others, “Hey look, I’m a blogger”….and use it to promote my blog..

Yeah, but I’mso solitary with this work … I barely leave my bedroom, let alone get to conventions!
@Cheap Sprint Phones: Is business card only for conventions? Thoughts welcomed!
every entrepreneur has a business card these days they are so cheap, some times free, it is a necessity now but i am not sure i would start sending business cards out.
You really need to get ones that enhance your brand better. With the cool illustration you have of yourself, that’s what you should be pushing! If you can design it yourself, you can get it printed really cheaply. Hey are you at IzeaFest? I”m wondering if I’ll kick myself next week for not going.
Wow! This is the first good thing I’ve ever heard about VistaPrints free business cards.
I agree with EB that you should have your illustration on the card and make it more colorful to stand out from the pack…
BTW, where did you get your illustration, Shannon?

The Vista Print Business Cards work Ok, but you really need to go up at least one level and get your logo or so added. Something that sticks out.
Then you also need to think about what your business card shall do for you? If you are just handing out contact information, cheap will do it. If you try to “sell”, the business card becomes a marketing tool and needs to be treated accordingly.
