SEO, Blogging and Make Money Online

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

When you started your first blog did you count the costs of starting it up? When you started did you have any goals in mind? Have you reached any of those goals yet? If you can’t answer yes to all those questions today’s post will help you get on track with it!

When I started InfectedByBugs it was more of a test then anything, through blogging I have learned a lot and IBB was really my first real blog other then just a personal one or two I started some time ago. That didn’t stop me from dreaming big however and I believe in time this blog will make me a nice income to live off of while I start other projects along with it. Before I get into the meat of this post lets review a couple of goals I set for myself when I started IBB.

  • Reach 500+ RSS Subscribers By The End Of 2008 (Which Will Be Basically One Year).
  • Make $200.00 + per month from personal ad sales / reviews.
  • Meet New People With The Same Passion For Blogging.

As you can see some of those are pretty lofty goals, mainly the RSS and 200.00 per month goals. Before I get into that however lets talk about the 3rd one “et New People With The Same Passion For Blogging”. I can without hesitation say that I have accomplished this one with flying colors. It was actually not that hard, they are just people and they love to talk and here how great they are just like any other person.

About the first and second goals I mentioned above, I am well on my way to breaking 500 in my first year if the sign up count continues. I also have some new plans underway to really break these boundaries up and sky rocket my RSS numbers as well as traffic! I have also nearly reached my $200.00 a month goal at least for the next 2 months but you will have to wait till the end of this month to see my made money post for may to see the results!

So as you can see I set some goals that were at the time seemed impossible but as I look back I could have actually done more and tried to get even bigger quicker. I believe the way I did things was standard for a new blog but its time to kick things into overdrive and that’s why I am setting a goal to reach 250 subscribers (100 more then I have now) for the end of June. That way I am sure to reach my 500 goal or sooner by the end of the year.

Goals are important to set because they give you something to work towards, lets face it we cannot produce kick butt articles 10 hrs a day for years one or two per day is the best we will be able to do without burning ourselves out.

Your RSS subscriber goal is very low considering your good content. As you say you know about SEO. I assume you get good quality traffic. I also assume you attract other fellow bloggers. If not you should. You can do this by commenting on others blog. Try out it on small blogs. They will surely visit back.

I am very big into goals. Because if you don’t map out where you plan on going then how can you expect to get there? You set some great and its awesome to see that you are well on your way to achieving them. Keep up the good work!
