Last week google did some minor PR updates to sites around the net, nothing major and I highly doubt it was a full update as it happened quite early compared to what google normally does.
I was just thinking, what if google does these small updates in order to catch new link sellers? I mean what if a site did not have links coming out of it, then after they got say a pr4 they started selling links? Wouldn’t google be able to easily see this and then hit them with a penalty in the real update?
Makes sense to me, what about you, what do you think?

Hm, that would stink for those buying the links.

I sure hope it was a small update and not a full one because I have killed myself the past 2 -3 months creating tons of positive links in and out with sites that have higher PR ratings them mine, so it should go up and it did not. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Full update or not my blog is now a PR3. Its funny though because I don’t care about pagerank at all.

I see where you are coming from, but if you had a PR2 blog and it got updated to PR6 you would probably get alot more people requesting links, which may also lead to more outbound linking.

I’m quite annoyed … several of my sites seem to have taken a nasty hit in page rank in the last day or two. Hoping VERY hard that it’s a temporary glitch.

Danny Cooper,
If my blog did become PR6 and I get a lot of link requests doesn’t mean I would give them the link. I am friendly but not that friendly. If they want a link on my blog they will have to buy an ad slot. I still don’t see why people care about PR.

You make a very good point. I wonder what Googles real reasons are (their official reasons)?

Well, my blog was a PR2 and now is PR1. I think is because I bough like 2000 links for a month and now I have like only 600, because I though it was a waste of money.

I have no idea about Google’s plans. But I’m happy that my new blog got PG1.
