WOW! It has been a long time since I did an seo / link building article on my blog. I hope to start doing more of them as search engine traffic is the best kind to have. Well today I was searching through my webmaster forum and I noticed that someone wanted to know how to get inner pageranking pages the fastest.
While I do not believe in selling pagerank links myself I know lots do and want to make money at it so I have to cover it in some way to ensure those readers stay happy as well.
To build an inner pagerank you first need to understand what a true inner pagerank is, then we can learn how to achieve inner pagerank quite easily.
Basically inner pagerank is a sub-page of your website that has a pagerank. Don’t ask me why I wanted to clarify that as you all would be laughing for days at some of the thoughts ive heard from clients and forum members but remember that inner pagerank is pagerank on a websites sub-page!
Now, the big question is how do we get inner pagerank without to much work? Well there are several techniques we can implement to our website to ensure we get inner pagerank. Here are a couple of the main ones and be sure to comment below if you have any other inner pagerank ideas!
1. Get a SiteMap- The sitemap is a file (usually .xml) that the search engines can read and index all your pages properly. When your pages are indexed correctly the search engines can automatically assign the proper pagerank to your inner pages.
2. Hyper Link Your Pages- One of the reasons blogs do so well in the serps is because they are nearly perfectly interlinked from page to page. If your not using a blog you need to link to the pages you want inner pagerank on. I find it best to link to these pages in the header, sidebar or lower right sidebar. This way when the search engines read your page they are directed to your sub-pages. Not only that but by cross-linking like this your homepage pagerank can and will be carried over to these inner pages.
3. Link To Them- One of the best ways to get inner pagerank is to simply link to the page you want to have pagerank. I have built several sites where I tested this and have had great results! In fact I had one site that had a pagerank 6 inner page and the rest of the site was all PR5. The same principle applies to homepages, if your homepage is a pr6 whatever you link off of it will generally be a pr5 to pr4. Again this is why blogs get such good rankings, its all about the links for the search engines!
Once you understand the above 3 techniques you should have no problem getting inner pagerank to your pages. What about you, do you have any other or deeper thoughts on inner pagerank and how to get it?

Interlinking pages is key. Whenever you write a new post link to make sure you link to related posts as you spread the pr juice from your homepage to the related pages and make spiders crawl more of your site.

I believe building a good link structure internally is very important method for building pagerank for these pages. There are a million pages inside your blog that may not be getting enough pagerank and traffic. The trick is to link to them from popular pages with high PR. This is a very effective link strategy.

I have used site map pages on my sites to add one more layer or internal linking, especially for those sites where the client wanted a javascript menu, which a SE would not crawl.

Great theory but it doesn’t seem to be like that on my site. I’ve had the site for ten years and it is ranked PR5 but inner pages have zero page rank even though ? have a site map. this linking must be more complex than you state although I think basically you are right, linking internally is so important…

Site maps are splendid for internal linking, even for anybody requiring a java scripted menu. We should also refrain from improving the external links only. Crucial information!

In websites usually the highest page rank is on the homepage and so you want to link from there to any page that needs page rank. a site map gets round the problem of limited links space on the homepage because it is only two clicks then away from the home page which spiders enter first. One click to sitemap and then to your page.ven page rank throughout your site depends on a good website link structure…

It’s true that internal links are strangely powerful. If you look at the backlinks from many high ranking sites, some of their most important links come from their own pages. Of course, building links on external sites to deep pages of yours is also a very good way to flow some authority to them and boost them quickly.

sitemap definitely helps me indexed faster, also site authentications at google webmasters, yahoo siteexplorer and msn webmasters also help you index faster than ever, In google, we can even set the frequency of spider to visit either faster, normal or slower.

In my experience a website needs good amount of links in order to spread pagerank within internal pages. It’s not usually a problem, however directories usually face this trouble.

Great tips on achieving inner pagerank. I agree that it’s important to build links to your inner pages as well, not just your home page. A blog is the best setup for proper linking, but if you’re not using a blog make sure you have links to your other pages as well as using your keywords in those links. Great post, Shannon.

This tip is probably the most powerful one on here. Make
at least three pages on your site and link them as follows:
Page 1 >>>>>> Page 2
Page 2 >>>>>> Page 3
And this is the kicker
Page 3 >>>>>> Page 1
Google will give points to page 2 from page 1, then to page
3 from page 2, and then – if you link it back to page 1 –
it starts all over again. I can’t even count how many
points this will end up giving you. Just don’t abuse it too
much – or the big sites will complain you are taking too
much PR from them.

These are all good points. The way that I get my inner page rank is by article marketing and linking to them, if my homepage has a page rank of 3 or 4, all it takes is a couple of crappy links to make the inner page a 1 or a 2.

I’ve had very good success interlinking pages and building backlinks to inner pages. Like you, I’ve also had some sites where the inner pages attained a higher pagerank than the homepage.
