Keyword Research

One of the questions I receive is “Where do you do your keyword research?” Of course every webmaster thinks they use the best tool available because they know how to use it and have never tried anything else. But there is more about keywords to be discovered than just what the normal keyword tools can provide. I could name every available keyword research tool available but that would be to time consuming for you to decide which tool was better anyway.

This article will discuss the other ways there are to find new keywords for your niche without using a keyword tool at all.

Keyword tools have no way of generating what people might search for in the future, so you will need to stay ahead of the game in order to score the key ranks for the newest keywords that have yet to be searched for.

A good way to do this is by utilizing some of the webmaster tools Google offers. They compile a list of the current and hottest trends and give you detailed information about each of them if you decide to click on them.

You can find the list here at http://google.com/trends.

The first page offers you the top ten and if you click on the More Hot Trends link, you can see the top 100 current most popular searched for terms.

If you are quick, you can get quite a bit of new traffic from utilizing this tool and the best part about it is that it’s free!

Another good way to find new keywords to target is buy just using your google bar and start searching for some random generic keywords that relate to your niche and see what comes up. Read through the list to see if there is any words there you could possibly use on your website. If these sites in the list are ranking high for the generic keyword, it’’s most likely that if you visit their site, you will find out what other keywords they are aiming at. It might just inspire you to use a new term on your blog or website that you wouldn’t have thought of otherwise.

I just want to make you aware that there are other places you can find new keywords to target. It’s not always about what has been done in the past, but what people are going to be doing in the future that may gain you many new subscribers to your blog.

If you use any other keyword research tools or methods feel free to share them below!
