I am so sick and tired of seeing people complain about their blogs not making money. I am also tired of the lie that you won’t make money on a blog until you reach a certain subscriber count or until your blog is big enough to warrant it.
These are all lies and I am just sick and tired of it!
Today I am complaining but its my right so be quiet! Here is the thing, people want you to think that making money online is hard and strenuous work, when the fact is if you have ever worked outside in the heat on a 80+ degree day for 4-5 hours you know what hard work really is.
I live in Texas so I know what real hard work is, that’s why I can truthfully tell you that this online stuff is a piece of cake in comparison to real work, why do you think people can run several online business and not just one alone? Its because they have time and lots of it on their hands, granted if you waste the time watching online tv or playing games on your pc then you won’t make much headway but that’s another story.
So we have covered that online work is not hard right? All you need is a plan and you can start right away, but wait a minute, what about making money if you cant wait 6 months – 1 year to start making money off a project. You keep saying I need cash now, please help me! I get questions like this all the time and I know from talking to other bloggers they get similar questions.
SHUT UP!
Its not impossible to make money off a blog or any site for that matter within the first month even first week a site goes live. It all comes down to your work ethic and how much you put into it, I am 100% sure if you treated blogging like you treat your full time job (being on time in the morning, and showing respect to the customers as well as working hard so you don’t get fired) then you would see benefits and gains quite quickly. Don’t believe me? No worries I have proof!
I have two stories to tell you about, the first is about myself and this very blog your reading.
When I started it just over 1 year ago I had the same thoughts you have about making money from it. However I was determined for it to make me some money even if it was just enough to pay for the hosting. Well I worked hard and I made posts every single day, I never missed for the first couple of months. That hard work paid off because not 3 months into blogging I was already making about $50/mo off this blog. Since then this blog has continued to make, more and more so I know its possible.
The second story I have for you is about the fact that you need to reach a certain amount of subscribers to be considered in the big leagues. Its such a false statement and I would like to know who started it?
I made my money when I was only at around 125 subscribers which took me 3 months to get, although a 125 seems small the companies advertising with me obviously didn’t.
I am sorry for the rant post but I just needed to say it!
I have tons of new content and videos coming up for you guys because 2009 is my year and I aim to make it my best year ever! You can help to, grab an advertisement on my site I am 100% sure you will be happy with the purchase!

You know what is the real problem? 99% of the people think that is only a matter to install WP add a bunch of ads and wait for the money to start flowing in. 99.9999% of the people who start blogs or any sites dont treat them as their 8hr jobs because most of the times they are home and they think that it’s going to take less effort than their other jobs, this is quite the opposite. Whenever you start a blog you should already know that is going to be much more difficult to make money than it is from you 8-5 job, but in the end is supposed to be worth the effort because you are working for yourself and not for some douche boss.
in the meanwhile we keep making the monies online.

My subscriber count was in the low 50′s when I sold 3 ad spots and a sponsored review in less than 10 minutes of installing OIOPubisher to my blog. I honestly think that if you have a good relationship with advertisers, then they will buy ads regardless of subscriber count.

Are you saying having a blog and making money IS or ISN’T hard work? Obviously sitting in the comforts of our home and not out digging ditches is much easier and wouldn’t be considered “hard” “strenuous” work.. but i don’t think you can compare the two..
Internet Marketing, if done right, takes a huge amount of time and effort! IF you want to make a living at it or even a nice side income!
If you want to do your SEO right and use the correct keywords and do the research to get visitors to your blog.. then it takes A LOT of work!
AND, i guess it depends on what you consider making money.. and how much is “making it” to you.
I kinda disagree on the subscriber thing.. Maybe you don’t have to reach a certain number to be considered in the big leagues.. but obviously, the more subscribers you can focus on, the more opportunity you have!!
Just look at the big boys that are raking in the dough, how many of them use aweber or other servces to “reel in” their subcribers.. They know exactly what they are doing and how important subscribers are! And just ask those that are doing very well how many hours they put in it a day! Again i guess that boils down to can a make money? Yes, but the REAL money takes a lot of hard work and a lot of time!
Also remember this.. when you fire up a new site, the search engines will usually go nuts over it.. after those initial 3 or 4 months.. you had BETTER have content and lots of it, along with all the SEO that needs to be done properly..

Thanks for your insight and knowledge in this post. While blogging is not strenuous work, it definitely does require at least 4-5 hours/day to truly drive traffic. I’m interested in what means you use to make money aside from advertisements. I saw someone mention OIO Publisher. Maybe I’ll take a look into that!
I am also considering trying out OIO publisher. Although there is still a lot to be done on my blog, I’m willing to put my extra time working on it.
I have sites that made money the first day they were launched so it’s not impossible.
I have no clue what RSS readers or Twitter followers has to do with making money online. I have no RSS feeds and no Twitter, Myspace or Facebook account and I make thousands of dollars per day from my site(s).
And what does “being from Texas” have to do with hard work ethic? Last time I checked George W. Bush was from Texas and he’s pretty much a slacker with rich parents.
Everybody should understand that making money blogging is possible. Of course it’s harder to start nowadays because concurrency is bigger than in 2004 although there is much more ways to monetize blog. People who doesn’t try enough always complain…

Time changes but opportunities remain for those who wants to run a blog or to start the other kind of business.It is necessary only to understand what he wants and what he likes.
There are always people who earn some money and people who will never succeed. If the blogger has some unique ideas and knows what to write about he will probably earn more then people who are only doing the same like many others.

Some people do not have the knowledge to run an online business and it takes quite a bit of ingenuity and know how to be successful. I am currently helping a client set up an online store and she is starting from scratch she just bought a computer. I think you need to take into acount what people know before you lash out at them

exactly … expecting to earn hundreds from the first day is like the major hobby of all the bloggers out there. Even if you do job you get the salary after 30 days..so just keep doing the work and you will get what you want..
