Sorry for not posting many updates as of late, I have been busy with some other projects and just have not had much motivation to post as of late. However I made this post for you all because it should help everyone out.
Have you ever wanted to know who you were following that was not following you back?
I know I have that way I could remove them from my twitter follow list, it would not be an issue at all if Twitter allowed you to Follow as many people as you want but they have a 2,000 followers or 110% max followers limit.
Its actually smart of them to do this but its aggravating for people like me who want to follow everyone and get followed in return! Today I am going to teach you AN EASY way to do this.
When you go to FriendOrFollow.com you will be shown a really cool search field, here is a screenshot!
All you have to do is type your twitter user name and hit the submit button. The FriendOrFollow.com website does the rest, after awhile (depends how popular you are) you should be presented with a list like this which displays all the people that you are currently following but have not returned the favor and followed you!
Once you are presented with this list it is your job to now go in and un follow all these people by hand (grunt work). I know it sucks but I did it when I had over 1,000 in this list and did it in about 1 hr so its not completely un-doable. You could also hire someone to do it for you!
I hope this post and technique have been useful to you, I know I will be using this method for a long time to get my twitter account to 100% pure followers!

Update: Mass Delete UnFollowers
After creating the post above one of my loyal readers came on with a comment with a link to a tool that actually will allow you to mass delete all the people you are following that have not returned the favor! You can read about the tool here: http://dossy.org/archives/000570.html

Just enter your username and password for twitter and click Whack!

Handy Twitter tool this one, I have used it a couple of times and it works well..

It saves the manual unfollow with a bulk unfollow feature.
The only thing missing is a feature that would enable me to bulk unfollow only these folowees that haven\t reciprocated for more than 48 hours.

Shannon, I thought that the point of Twitter was to follow people you wanted to follow and not just a “reciprocal following game”. Why is it that you don’t want to follow people that to not follow you?
@Mikael @ RetireRichRoadmap, there’s the fad aspect. Although Twitter has been around for a while, it’s only really being used by lots of people in the last two or three months, so there’s a danger of spending a lot of time and effort using and finding out about Twitter to find that six months down the line, everyone’s moved onto the next thing.
@ Personal Injury, I’m sorry but I don’t follow where you’re going. How is that related to only following people that follow you?

Twitter has a rule that limits you to following only 2,000 people. When you get 2,000 followers, that limit is lifted

Is this matter has concern to the monetary income? It is personal strategy so you know better about this.
Some do comments as to get return traffic to their web blogging comments become the way of promotion their own website.
Twitter is a tool to be used to follow those of interest. Of interest for a REASON.
I really DON’T UNDERSTAND the “need” to be followed yourself.
Learn how to “earn” followers; you can’t DEMAND fame or respect, or whatever else it is that so many seem to crave.
Agree wholeheartedly on both counts. There is no reciprocal obligation to Follow. And un-following is such a non-event, it should be like unsubscribing from a newsletter.
Really very useful and little tool…
I have seen people with thousands of followers on Twitter. Can anyone tell me how they get so many followers? Also, any ideas for using Twitter as a marketing tool will be appreciated.
I prefer to use Twitter Karma because of the Bulk Follow/Unfollow tool it has. I will follow people by the hundreds sometime, and if some don’t follow back then I would want to remove them and Twitter Karma makes it easy.

@Eriuqs Spires Healthy Recreation, Why not? There’s no law that says you HAVE to follow someone. It may just mean they’re not interested or whatever. It’s completely up to you whether you want to keep following someone or not.
I have people follow me that are in a specific niche that I have no interest in, so I don’t bother following. For example: nfl, dating, etc. Just because they decide to follow me doesn’t automatically demand that I follow them back.
Follow the people you’re interested in, unfollow the people you’re not. It’s that simple.

@Eriuqs Spires Healthy Recreation, You gotta look at it this way. If you’re really not interested in what they’re tweeting about, then how is it going to benefit them by you following them? You’re basically just another number at that point. You might as well not be following because you probably won’t pay any attention to their updates.
I agree, though, it doesn’t hurt to be nice and follow back.

Ok I got the message clear now. It won’t do any good also if you will be just following a certain person just because you need to or you want to be counted as one of the follower. Right?

I posted something above (Apr 27th) that I still believe is valid.
I’ve discovered that I’ve gotten a ridiculous amt of followers for a simple, stupid reason: folks chose to follow somebody, then they see who else is following that twitter and chose to follow them also. So, I now have followers only because they noticed I follow somebody they follow! Ridiculous.
I’ve also seen waaayy too many folks putting effort into getting followers as some sort of ‘marketing’ effort.
For so many reasons, twitter is bordering on the absurd here… either twitter users will grow up, or twitter will just burn out and disappear. IMO.
