The Google sandbox!

The Google sandbox came to be in the beginning of 2004, basically it’s a new spam filter that excludes new websites from the search results for a period of time. The sandbox is basically a place that google holds websites in until they believe it’s time to start allowing them to rank. This even happens with websites that have a high quality unique content and which are promoted using legitimate techniques.

So basically a new website is created, great content is added and you do SEO correctly but you still can’t rank!

The trick to the sandbox is learning how to be patient; you just have to wait until they start treating your website like its normal, which usually takes around 90 days. In these 90 days you can take advantage and start building your website would legitimate white hat seo techniques.

Google filters these websites to try and trace any websites that are using black hat techniques to push their way to the top of the rankings in any niche. This is one way that Google eliminates any spammers from entering their index!

By Google implementing the sandbox filter it has allowed us as he SEO’s to use our legitimate techniques for ranking our keywords properly. It eliminates spammers making our job easier; however it does get tiresome having to wait 90 days to see some real ranking placements! I wish Google would speed that process up a little bit.

We have never once seen a new site “sandboxed” not once. Ive heard tell, but have seen no evidence whatsoever personally that this exists

we put a new site live only last friday (25/01) and were page one for our primary search terms part of the domain name from the moment the site was indexed sunday lunchtime. still there now.

expect it may sink back to #20 or 30 before we get it back to top 5 in a couple of weeks, but thats just normal. if you have examples of the sandbox in action currently i’d be interesed to see?

Hello SEO Ibiza, I currently dont have any examples of this other then the site your visiting right now!

Its not about no rankings, its about limited rankings that are hard to beat without google penalizing you, as you said you get instant rankings, but the reason you drop is because its sandboxed till they check everything out :D

  3. SEO Ibiza Says:

hiya dude. have to disagree, the reason they drop is because G artificially promotes brand new sites briefly on launch to check user reaction I think, and then they sink to their more natural position which gives you an immediate indication of the value of your onsite SEO work as compsared to your competition. then your anchor text pushes it back up slowly.

you rank #1 for: infected by bugs - what other phrases are you targetting in your IBL anchors?

Our opinions are solely our own on the whole sandbox idea, everyone looks at things differently and your opinion is welcomed!
