The Lemonade Stand Tale…

nullFor a really long time internet marketers and big business men have told the tale of how they got started, nearly all of them had a lemonade stand at some point and time that they learned how to make successful which in turn taught them about success, failures and of course how to make that green dough!

Well today I first wanted to ask if any of you have ever had a lemonade stand and what your results were?

I never ran a lemonade stand myself but I did have other business ventures that helped me learn a lot about business, making money, losing money and saving money as well.

However whether you ran a lemonade stand or not it does not determine your outcome as a business person or even as a blogger, its time to break out of the lemonade stand mentality and dream of something bigger.

You all remember my post last year which listed my 2009 goals, well I have begun working on them and to help the process along I have decided to create an ebook to help generate some income for this blog. I haven’t decided what the ebook will be about yet only that I will write one and sell it here on ibb for about $14.95 per copy.

If you have any ebook ideas then feel free to let me know about them and if I choose your idea I will give you a cut of each sale I make (that’s just how we roll at ibb).

The Lemonade Stand mentality for me would be giving up on IBB after one year of blogging because it did not grow in every way like I had hoped. But why would I want to do that? With a little more love and possibly a few more lemons squeezed ibb will be the blog I have dreamed of.

Its all in your vision and how you look at things, I look at a website and see potential while others look at it and see a failure. I just wanted you all to know that I am not giving up on ibb and you can expect great things to happen this year of 2009!

Never had a lemonade stand, never cared about money until I needed it :)

Even now, most of what I do is because I am passionate about it, and the money is just a byproduct. Which is great, but I realize this is not possible for everyone.

  4. I used to blog about blogging and forum tips on a domain with my name. But I closed it, because I had too many mistakes. I would consider that my lemonade stand. Now I have restarted a blog just like it, without any of the mistakes my old blog had and now I have had significant more success.

I still haven’t made money from it, but it wasn’t on my list of expectations so that’s alright. What my new blog has had is a lot more comments on each post than my old blog. So without my lemonade stand, I wouldn’t have my new blog. :)

Topics like “XX Ways to Make Money Online” are always good sellers. Other things like blog flipping, product flipping are hot topics right now.

Im actually in the process of finding a nice way to make some money online. Right now im actually trying to gather some information. Its kind of like a field study… testing to see if I can actually make money by doing it :P

If all goes well, i’m going to write up the ebook, and sell it on the warrior forum, and DP and anywhere else I can promote it :P

Anyways you can email me and we can throw some ideas back and forth if you want to…

    Farewell!

never had a lemonade stand or any other off line business so far. I have learnt everything from my online projects,

  8. Sophie says:

Never had one. Though I suppose it depends where you are in the world. For example, here in England I don’t think I have ever seen a Lemonade stand in the street, I suppose this is because there are bigger chains with their own on street kiosks.

  9. mariadonna says:

Hi Nice Blog . Good one- SEO india.

  10. I didn’t have a lemonade stand either, but I did have a business of my own when I was a kid. I traded pokemon cars and then sold them, not for much maybe a dollar here and their but I was only 9 or 10 when I started.

Anyway, im out of my “lemonade stand” mentality and have moved on to bigger dreams.

  11. “I just wanted you all to know that I am not giving up on ibb and you can expect great things to happen this year of 2009! ”
Your blog is now PR4! Whoa Shannon.. Your advertising pricing should shoot up by 20% :P

  12. Alex says:

Wow! Thats a nice little start to 2009!

My blog went up 1 page rank, from 0 to 1 :D Im pretty happy.

  13. Alex says:

hehe good business plan! If things go well for me in the next couple weeks/months I might be buying up a little spot of real estate on your blog.

    keep it up!

  14. Dave says:

I think a lemonade stand is something children do as a fun thing. It’s not such a serious business as say, affiliate marketing. Digressing further, it all depends if you grew up in a house in the suburbs or if you grew up in an apartment in the city. I grew up in the suburbs with sprawling lawns and backyards. So, that said, business all emanate from personal perspective as well as your environment.

Why the internet and blogging is great is becaue all differnet types of people from all different walks of life are connected through this invisible stream and it doesn’t matter where you live if you want to be successful on the internet.

  15. sleigh bed says:

Well lemonade stand, i will think about it. Your blog is too good to read. Good to listen that you are going to write your e book and thats a superb thing. I just want to suggest that please take care about the font size enlargement and shrinkage. This matters a lot for impression of your words on the people in front. :)

  16. I see no reason for you to give up. You have a great blog with lots of comments and good advertising revenue. You just need to build on it. Some people have great traffic and make little or nothing at all!

  17. Great blog and remember persistence is the best way to make money online but hopefully with lessons learnt too! Good luck with the ebook, I am preparing one or two right now and if I have an idea I think I will keep it to myself if you don’t mind!

  20. Dating says:

I had a lemonade stand and I drank all my product waiting for non existent customers from my neighborhood in the middle of the week during the day! Smart huh?

  21. Christopher says:

Dreaming of something bigger definitely works. People end up getting stuck in the mode of what is working, instead of going for something better.

  22. act test says:

one of the things i got out of your post was the concept of persistence and patience. i believe many bloggers think they can start a blog and make incredible money within weeks – when the reality is it takes months/years, hard work, persistence and some luck to be able to generate any sizable income.

  23. usually taking the risk is really necessary in any kind of business, online or offline. It is just the one who take it that usually knows the outcome.

  24. Great things happen and things change because people think and act on it. Negative thinkers and quitters usually fail and great that you have a positive approach on things. Good luck to this IBB site and your other business ventures. Don’t forget to manage your expenses wisely, usually this is neglected by a lot of marketers.

  25. I think every kid should try running a lemonade stand once (obviously supervised by an adult). I feel like it really helps teach some important business related things. I personally ran a lemonade stand a few times when I was younger.

  26. Pat Testers says:

All commentator’s have said about the lemonade sand that it is only for the kids. it is not much important thing. What is means.

  27. I definitely agree for what you observe, thank so much for this entry i learn some tips. Keep up the good work.
