I haven’t done a SEO related post in a while so today I wanted to take some time and list of the top 5 seo tips you can apply to any website or blog you may have.
1. I suggest you re-work your title to contain you most important keywords. My main keyword (where all my traffic comes from is “making money online”). Do some basic keyword research to ensure your titles are aimed for good keywords that you actually have a chance to rank for!
2. Make sure you install the “All In One SEO Pack” plugin if your using wordpress as your blogging platform.
3. Use images to your advantage, you probaly won’t get better rankings fro “Alt Tags” on your images but you can get traffic from them so use them anyhow to ensure your listed in the image results!
4. Ask friends with similar blogs / sites to link to you. It never hurts to ask!
5. Be willing to wait, wait and wait again! When it comes to SEO don’t ever rush things, if you do things right you should slowly move up the rankings and google will not penalize you if you move up slow because its organic!
I hope you have enjoyed these tips, comment below with anything you want to add!

You ever look up Platinum SEO? It does more stuff that All in one SEO: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/platinum-seo-pack/
You forgot commenting on other blogs
Point number 5 was absolutely right. SEO won’t give you much traffic in the beginning but if you keep doing it for some time, you’ll surely find that a major chunk of your traffic comes from search engines. Nice post.
Good post.
Though most of the points are already well known, still it refreshes.
If you could elaborate on keyword research in your next post(s), it would be awesome.
Rawk!

Actually commenting on other blogs does not do a whole lot seo wise, the blogroll links are way better (trust me) I know!
As to keyword research I can make a small post / video on how to do that, its not that hard and its well worth the few minutes to do so!
All good reminders … commenting on blogs is good for your “off-site” SEO if it’s do-follow and you use good anchor text. *SmiLes* Suzanne
Shannon dude – Get your facts right.. You just can’t get a link into the blog roll until you don’t know the owner of the blog. and second.. You cannot sell the blogroll links since it isn’t allow by Google(Remember John Chow? From PR7 to PR3 and from Page 1 to Page 6). But if its the top commentators widget.. Its fine
Though going throw the recent Google TOS would be BETTER than just adding the Top Commentors Widget and making your blog do follow.
I do love the “All in One SEO Pack” for WordPress. Although waiting isn’t fun, it is necessary to see results. Thanks for the great post!
Good article plus link to good sites plus catchy title or heading of your site will drive traffic to your site.
@Alex Fraiser
I have never heard of Platinum SEO before but anyway, thanks for sharing.
Monty – I never said anything about buying or selling links? That is obviously a HUGE no no to Google and I would never do that. The Top Commentors widget is simply to help out my readers, as long as you all continue to comment I don’t really care about my pagerank at all.
Let me give you some tips on how to manage SEO on your website.
1. Do the best keyword analysis and select the keywords which has good search volume and should be relevant to your website content.
2. Create content which has good keyword density in it and please make a note that content should be fresh, as google likes fresh content.
3. After creating website, please do focus on Meta tags of your website, which helps you get quick ranking for your targetted keywords.
Gotta say I love All In One SEO pack too … just makes thing so much easier!
As regards meta tags … isn’t the jury out on that one?
Let me give one tip.
For seo we should reduce using , and &npsp tags.
I have never heard of Platinum SEO before but anyway, thanks for sharing.
Good reminders Shannon. I have been using “All In One SEO Pack” for sometime now and I must say it is one of the best one out there.
I’m also a big fan of All in One SEO .. That’s the first plugin I install on every blog I build. Any blogger not using it should definitely check it out.
Nice work man..keep it up.
I didn’t know those technique,will try…
Great tips especially the one about waiting. New sites now have to age a bit before they can expect decent rankings. It takes time but I agree the methods are important, never try to deceive the search engines…ever…be careful to do everything with the aim of offereing good content the engines will eventually reward you
i prefer to use All in one seo pack than platinum seo plugin
I have found that on site optimization really helps increase ranking place… your tip about title optimization is one of the most important areas of focus, also making sure your URL has your target keywords and nothing else does wonders for SEO… Very helpful article.. Thanks!
Your tips are nice, keyword did a important roll in SEO, but you forget to say about dofollow commenting on another blogs, it ‘ll increase traffic to your web site.
I totally agree with All In One SEO Pack, this plugin has been helping me so much since I use WP for the first time in the early of 2007, and I never disappoint with it

I still have to apply point #4 and #5 since I am kinda new to this SEO stuff. Glad I have land here
The way which u formed the post is amazing even layman can understand some thing from the above post. i would like to add one point to the above post.

Congratulate on writing a very good article on SEO. Creating images to improve traffic is very important. This is first time that i am hearing about Platinum SEO.
Anyhow, I’ll use that.
Thanks for the list. I like number four, about asking friends to link you. I don’t know why I never thought about that before.
how we can use &npsp tags in our blogs and is this useful for our blog or not.
this great tips is a must for promoting your website. all in one seo pack do everything about title and description. but I think tho most important is the 5th tip.
As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work and what people search for. Optimizing a website primarily involves editing its content and HTML coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines.
Thank you for the info ..
I really need to collect more information’s about the Blogger updates.
this is a great tips for seo.
Very good tips. I do a lot of marketing and it has always been very effective. Any extra tips I can get are always appreciated.
These all are the tricks of online marketing….
I have to agree with your last point, in SEO patience is the key to a successful campaign.
My biggest problem is the slow part.
Patience is not my strong point.
I agree, SEO is a slow boring, but lso rewarding process.
Nice 5 Tips for Seo Content also main in our website.
Patience is a seo virtue.. And then there is related backlinks.

i think onsite SEO helps build the foundation, but you won’t get any traffic without some serious link building.
Comment on other blogs, participate in forums, submit your content to social book marking sites and exchange quality links with others web masters.
In short get more and more quality inbound links pointing to your site and wait.
thanks for sharing
im stil learning about SEO
As far as tip #3 is concerned I would go as far as making sure that the image is also saved under the description. Example: alt=’cat’ and cat.jpg
I am not sure if it helps… but it doesn’t hurt to take the time to rename some images from 1234.jpg to the actual name of what it is.
Till then,
Jean
