I haven’t done a SEO related post in a while so today I wanted to take some time and list of the top 5 seo tips you can apply to any website or blog you may have.

1. I suggest you re-work your title to contain you most important keywords. My main keyword (where all my traffic comes from is “making money online”). Do some basic keyword research to ensure your titles are aimed for good keywords that you actually have a chance to rank for!

2. Make sure you install the “All In One SEO Pack” plugin if your using wordpress as your blogging platform.

3. Use images to your advantage, you probaly won’t get better rankings fro “Alt Tags” on your images but you can get traffic from them so use them anyhow to ensure your listed in the image results!

4. Ask friends with similar blogs / sites to link to you. It never hurts to ask!

5. Be willing to wait, wait and wait again! When it comes to SEO don’t ever rush things, if you do things right you should slowly move up the rankings and google will not penalize you if you move up slow because its organic!

I hope you have enjoyed these tips, comment below with anything you want to add!

WOW! It has been a long time since I did an seo / link building article on my blog. I hope to start doing more of them as search engine traffic is the best kind to have. Well today I was searching through my webmaster forum and I noticed that someone wanted to know how to get inner pageranking pages the fastest.

While I do not believe in selling pagerank links myself I know lots do and want to make money at it so I have to cover it in some way to ensure those readers stay happy as well.

To build an inner pagerank you first need to understand what a true inner pagerank is, then we can learn how to achieve inner pagerank quite easily.

Basically inner pagerank is a sub-page of your website that has a pagerank. Don’t ask me why I wanted to clarify that as you all would be laughing for days at some of the thoughts ive heard from clients and forum members but remember that inner pagerank is pagerank on a websites sub-page!

Now, the big question is how do we get inner pagerank without to much work? Well there are several techniques we can implement to our website to ensure we get inner pagerank. Here are a couple of the main ones and be sure to comment below if you have any other inner pagerank ideas!

1. Get a SiteMap- The sitemap is a file (usually .xml) that the search engines can read and index all your pages properly. When your pages are indexed correctly the search engines can automatically assign the proper pagerank to your inner pages.

2. Hyper Link Your Pages- One of the reasons blogs do so well in the serps is because they are nearly perfectly interlinked from page to page. If your not using a blog you need to link to the pages you want inner pagerank on. I find it best to link to these pages in the header, sidebar or lower right sidebar. This way when the search engines read your page they are directed to your sub-pages. Not only that but by cross-linking like this your homepage pagerank can and will be carried over to these inner pages.

3. Link To Them- One of the best ways to get inner pagerank is to simply link to the page you want to have pagerank. I have built several sites where I tested this and have had great results! In fact I had one site that had a pagerank 6 inner page and the rest of the site was all PR5. The same principle applies to homepages, if your homepage is a pr6 whatever you link off of it will generally be a pr5 to pr4. Again this is why blogs get such good rankings, its all about the links for the search engines!

Once you understand the above 3 techniques you should have no problem getting inner pagerank to your pages. What about you, do you have any other or deeper thoughts on inner pagerank and how to get it?

Zafar Ahmed is a senior seo specialist who currently resides in Pakistan. You can find out more info and other great articles from him on http://zafarahmed.com

So you have made your website or weblog and now wondering about how to get listed in the search engine. If you are keenly interested to appear as a successful online entrepreneur, you may not be able to do anything without the knowledge of SEM or search engine marketing. Apart from creating a content-rich blog, you must have enough knowledge about blog marketing strategy as well.

Now if you consider the primary objectives of search engine marketing, putting it simply you can see two integral factors – (1) to get listed and (2) to get higher ranking. Now take the first factor and let us analyze it from a closer perspective. Many people prefer to submit their site to Google and then spend a considerable amount of time for Google Dance. Well, this is not an effective solution always. Here are few essential SEM tips that you employ to enhance your blog marketing strategy.

Better Rank on Search Engines Needs Strategies

The first step of trying for a higher rank on the Google is creating Blogger Blogs. Since Google owns Blogger, your blog will have a guaranteed place in the listing. People may not prefer using Blogger, in such cases they can always switch over into something else after being listed. According to the majority, Wordpress is the most handy blogging software of recent times. It works the best when you are executing it from a web space of your own.

The position obtained in the list can always be improved by optimizing the pages based on the subject of each page. Always keep in mind the working procedure of the search engines. The search engines set the rank for each page separately and thus all the pages should pass through separate optimization. But the first focus should always be on the first page or index page of the blog.

The main theme of blog marketing is achieving the best rank for the index page, as that is the page with information about the Blogs. Sometimes after the blog is listed higher on the search engines, another page other than the index page obtains a higher rank. But it is not a very common feature in blog marketing.

You can now continue your optimization procedure according to your wish. Many people continue to post fresh topics on their blogs at regular intervals. Adding relevant links to the blog also helps in blog marketing. This will increase the possibility of receiving a high rank in the search engine listings.

Effective Index Page for Blog marketing

Now if you are interested in making the index page of your blog more eye-catching, there are some simple strategies that you can follow. Remember that the listing is meant for only a single search term. This search term is provided by the persons seeking information about the subject matter of your blog. You can obtain a separate rank for a different search term at another index. So, the main aim should always be on determining a best keyword for optimizing the index page.

Then after deciding the final keyword, you have to again pass through certain processes. Include the keyword in the title of the page and place it in the ‘title’ tags. It is always better if you manage to form a title a bit extended that your keyword. For example, you have decided to use ‘diabetes’ as the keyword, in this case the title can be ‘Symptoms of Diabetes’.

The core heading of the page does not follow the same rule, but it should also include the keyword. For instance the above mentioned pages have a heading like ‘Diabetes in Doctor’s Discussion Forum’. Place it as the H1 tags. This will inform the algorithm of the search engine that the page heading includes the vital text related to the blog.

Highlighting the Significance of Keywords – Is It Necessary?

It must be highlighted that the keyword ‘diabetes’ is a very significant term for the blog. Use it for a few times in the initial 100 characters and then again in the concluding paragraph of the page, this will serve the purpose of highlighting the key-term. You may also apply it once in each 300 words, but this is not a necessary trick. Always remember that overusing of the keywords will harm the blog marketing procedure.

In addition to the main keyword try to use plenty of terms related to the keyword. This will make the algorithm understand the actual subject matter discussed in the blog. The example that we have discussed above will not let you know whether the subject is based on typ1 or type2 diabetes. You must always make this clear while building the syntax for the blog.

This can be done in two ways one by changing the main page heading into ‘Type2 Diabetes in Doctor’s Discussion Forum’ or by including several terms related to type2 diabetes. For instance words like ‘weight loss’, ‘fatigue’, ‘blurred vision’ etc. All these words are used for making it clear to the algorithm for the page, that it is based on type2 diabetes.

You will get to know many other methods of optimizing your blog. Some of them are capable of making the blog more applicable for the keyword. The more relevant the keyword appears to the search engine, the higher will be the rank of your blog.

Confusion between SEO and SEM: a Big Factor?

There are vast differences between the SEO and SEM. Majority of the people consider the search engine optimization and the search engine marketing as similar processes. This confusion leaves a harmful effect on the blog marketing. You will not be able to be successful in blog marketing without knowing the SEM in details.

So have a complete brush on your SEM knowledge or hire some external SEM services. People always have a tendency to become puzzled with the process of starting SEM. Sometimes it becomes quite critical to locate an effective point of focus for SEM. So, hiring services can be quite beneficial.

As a person I have fallen claim to some seo myths as I am sure you have. Today I want to reveal to you that the “Alt Tag” is a myth. If you ever hear anyone saying it helps improve serp rankings then you should run.

The alt tag used to be a factor for the search engines to properly rank you but that changed a few years back and it now means nothing to the search engines accept more text on your site. While I agree with others that using them to get more text with your keywords on the page can be helpful if you have a massive page, smaller pages need not worry because you really only have to mention your keywords on your page 1 or 2 times and that is plenty.

Using this tag can also spark the search engines interest because it is a change, I have used them before to get the search engines bots to my site because they believe new content has been added. However in the long run that could hurt you as well if your page does not warrant regular changes like a blog does.

Since my blog is after all about MMO and Blogging Tips its only fair to warn you that if your running a blog then DON’T use alt tags ever! Blogs are already equipped and jamb packed full of your keywords in the title, meta tags and in your posts! Not to mention the fact that if you use technorati tags within your blog you are already doing more then enough to rank for general long tail keywords.

What about you? Have you tried using the Alt Tag before with no luck? Tell us about it below and leave a comment for real extra link juice!

There seem to be a lot of talks about on page seo around the net on blogs as well as user communities. I hate seeing people waste there time so today I am going to reveal a few myths about on page seo that you should take to heart. If you don’t want to read this whole post skip to the last part as it tells you why this is so important. You can then decide whether to go back and read the rest of the post for yourself.

Meta Tags – One of the biggest myths floating around the net is the thought that unless you have good keyword rich meta tags you won’t obtain a good ranking. While that may have been true in the past it no longer matters to the search engines. The only tag that matters to the engines at this point is the title tag of which I have written multiple articles on in the past.

Heading Tags, Bolds, Italics and Sizes – A big myth around the net is the fact that you have to use heading tags, bolds, italics and even different sized text to get the search engines attention for what keyword you want to rank for. This is also a myth and is not necessary at all, if you create your content for your visitors the search engines will be more then happy to rank you properly as long as your title tag is setup right.

Alt Tags – I can’t believe this is still a myth around the net but that just goes to show how good google is at lying to all of us. They have said that the Alt Tag helps them know what images / your page is about so they can rank you better. This of course is all a bunch of junk that you can ignore, google is trying to run you around in circles with all these techniques for seo, just ignore them friends.

Keyword Density – This myth is probably the most wide spread of them all, the engines say that if your page states your keyword blah blah % of the time you will have a better chance of ranking for your terms. This is also a lie that should be ignored, the only time keyword density even need to be looked at is when you have a blog front page so you don’t mention the same word 1,000’s of times on one page. As stated above, create your content for your readers, if you do this the engines will treat you better then you would think.

W3C / Clean HTML – Why is this in the myth list? Because friends of mine believe it and I am adamant that it is a waste of time. Sure having clean code is great and looks impressive in a portfolio but for seo it doesn’t matter the slightest little bit. In fact when you read my last statement of this post you will understand why I listed a lot of these myths as I have.

Title Tag Keyword Use – People seem to think that if they spam the title tag on a page they will get a better ranking, some also think limiting the title tag to just 1 keyword is the solution to better rankings… Guess what, in both cases each party is WRONG! It doesn’t matter how many keywords you use in the title tag, however I have found that a range between 3-5 keywords is best. It really depends how many keywords you need to go after throughout your whole site.

So why am I so intense with what is and is not a seo myth? Well think of it this way, each time you make your page more SEO friendly the search engines can begin to crawl your page better right? Not necessarily, one thing it does do is alert them that the page is more seo friendly oh and guess what the search engines don’t like people applying SEO to the web pages so why would the rank you better for it?

Its my belief that the more seo friendly your page is the worst your rankings ar going to be, unless you start the site off with decent seo. If you can somehow understand seo before you start a site it would be best as this way the search engines rank your site as if you just got things right by pure luck. This is the best plan when starting a site / doing seo to a website in my opinion but remember as I have said in the past they’re is no one way to skin a cat and my opinions are just that an opinion.

What do you think, does limiting seo on page help or hurt your potential rankings?

3 Easy Ways To Long Tail Keyword Rankings

Today we are going to look at the long tail keyword factor and 3 easy ways to achieve top rankings in them. Before we learn the techniques to top rankings for them we first need to know that long tail keywords will generate great traffic for us because they are easy to obtain and we can obtain multiple ones in a short period of time!

Social Bookmarks

Alright so the first part in this basic 3 step plan to obtain long tail keywords is social bookmarks. The reason I prefer these over generic links is because you can obtain large quantities of them in a fairly short time frame. Google will index your page within hours of submitting to the socials and you will start ranking just as quick. Depending on the long tail keyword (some are harder then others) you will see a ranking time between 24-48 hrs.

Directories

After you get a handful of social bookmarks pointing to your long tail keywords submit that page into directories as well. Directories create great authority in the engines and life without them is simply pain! Get into all the best ones you can, even spending a few bucks for bigger directories like Yahoo or Business is not a bad idea.

SEO URLS

The #1 key to obtaining long tail keywords is using seo URL. The search engines rely heavily on long tail keywords to match with long tail seo URL. This is a major reason to why blogs rank well so fast. They apply the long tail keyword method and they do it because it simply put… Works!

Using these 3 simple steps you should be able to obtain long tail keywords in no time, apply these methods and share your results with us below!

Traffic, links, subscribers and tons more, In this post we are going to look at commenting for backlinks, what newb blog commenter’s fail to realize the power of blog commenting and the link juice they get from them.

Before you go to the biggest blog in your niche and start commenting like a mad man, sit back and learn how to comment properly so you don’t risk an ip ban or even worse a URL block!

Commenting needs to be looked at like a business, you need to leave a relative professional comment, if you don’t leave a great comment it will not be approved. However if your first 10 or so comments are top notch and really helpful you will automatically be put into the allowed comments section where you can start commenting with less detail but you still get good backlinks and traffic from your comments.

When you comment be sure to list your username / name as the top keyword your trying to rank for. Point the URL field to your site / sub page, if you have cookies enabled on your browser it will more then likely remember your info from blog to blog. If not make an easy copy and paste text doc so you don’t have to type each field in for every blog you visit.

With each comment you do will send links to your blog, and get this, each time you comment on a powerful blog you get a powerful link back to your site. While comments are never going to be as powerful as a direct in post or blogroll link, they are still great votes for your site. They also help your technorati rank and as a blogger technorati is like the best place to be!

Additionally some sites now have the word press top commentor’s list, if you make a string of great comments you could get a Sitewide link pointing to your site from the powerhouse blog. Remember though, even if you don’t get a Sitewide top commentor’s link the blog comment is still very powerful and helpful for your site.

So what will these blog comments do for you? Well in essence they will build your backlinks count for google, yahoo and msn. These comment links in large quantities will help you gain ranking positions in the serps. Not only that but blog commenting will also get you some decent traffic to your site, those two factors alone are well worth putting an hour a day into blog commenting.

I would like to suggest that you watch these top blogs and see an average for what time and day they make the new posts. If you can be the first commenter on the post all those who follow will tend to click on your link (if it was a good comment) it’s a great way to get readers out of it and you will be doing yourself a favor to learn ways to be the first commenter on a post.

In fact even if a blog is small and has 5 or less comment average, be the first one and as the blog grows and the posts get more popular in the serp positions your comment will still be the first one which can yield long time traffic! I have experimented with this technique and can gladly say I have seen traffic increases on sites upwards of 500%. A staggering number yes, but you can do the same if you start commenting! So what are you waiting for? Comment on this post below and see how much traffic you get from it!

Keyword Density Myth Revealed

Today we are going to talk about the keyword density myth that is spread around the internet. This myth was created by top seo’s and search engines to throw people a curveball and keep them off the track of correct SEO tactics.

Keyword density in a nutshell is how many times through your body text you mentioned a specific keyword or phrase. Keyword density is no longer an important factor for the search engines but the top seo’s and search engines continue to promote the idea that it is. You will see all these top seo’s and some search engines giving the percentages to go by.

These percentages are totally false and misleading to every new seo that has not been in the field long. Keyword density is one of the lowest factors the search engines now go by for successful rankings, I am not suggesting that you go out spam your page with a bunch of keywords just to gain higher rankings.

I’m also not suggesting for you to limit how many times you mention the keywords either, my only rule of thumb is to go by reading your own content and making sure it makes sense to you and your visitors. The search engines are becoming smarter and smarter all the time. They now read sentence structure, so if it makes sense to a human we can assume it will now make sense to the search engines. Build it as if you were reading it on someone else’s website. How do you believe it should be structured and displayed?

We’ve been talking about on page body text keyword density and the myth behind it that the search engines and top seo’s created over the years. But let’s not skip the meta description density either, although I have not heard any reports about keyword density in the description tag, I suggest that you mention it no more than one time in this tag.

This way you can avoid any penalties from the search engines now and in the future. I hope that you have enjoyed today’s post on the keyword density myth, what are your thoughts on the subject and how many times do you believe keywords should be mentioned per page? Tell us below by commenting so that all of our users can benefit from your knowledge!

Two Rhinos, Are Not As Good As One!

Today were going to discuss one of the many ways to improve your site’s trust rank in the search engines. Trust rank was developed by a Yahoo employee but it seems as if Google has taken the idea more to heart even or Yahoo & MSN. In a recent poll run by SEOMOZ they asked every seo that visited their website to list the number one positive and negative ranking factors in their opinions. After a few weeks went by the poll the results came in and they were staggering to say the least.

Duplicate Title Tags

To no surprise the Title Tag was the number one ranking factor chosen by all those that visited the SEOMOZ website in terms of positive ranking results. The basic rule of thumb about the title tag is if it’s in the title you can rank for it with just a little off page work. (That is a bold statement but in most cases it is true.)

Much to our surprise the number one negative ranking factor was having duplicate title tags throughout the website. As soon as the poll results came in and I saw every-one’s opinion I took it to heart and deleted my homepage title’s from every post on InfectedByBugs, within a few weeks time we shot up to page #3 for the term seo blog with no other work done.

Although we dropped for a short period of time after changing our title tags, we did start to see ranking improvements for various terms which is good when it’s such an easy thing to change. If you’re running a word-press blog or even another cms system like a forum then more than likely there is probably a plug-in that allows you to remove the site wide title and replace it with specific page titles from each entry that is inputted to the system. If however your website is HTML, then you need to manually go in and change each title appropriately for maximum ranking benefits.

When it comes to HTML website I know it sounds like a lot of work to change the title tags site wide, but trust me in the long run its worth the change and the short drop in serps before you soar to new ranking levels like never before!

One thing you can do while you’re waiting for the new title text to index is get some social bookmarks to speed up the process, social bookmarks are a great way to get indexed quickly. Just get your categories and a couple of the main posts that link to other posts within your website or blog then social them and in no time at all you will be set with all of your new titles indexed throughout the search engines properly.

In addition to social bookmarks you may want to do some anchor text back link keyword research to see what sort of back links are pointing to your posts individually. Perhaps contact some of those back link owners and ask them to change it to your new website title.
