nullAs most of you who read the comments here on IBB you probably know that I had to buy a new video camera. I thought I would tell you all the story and show off my new camera that I got in the mail today.

So I was using my fathers Sony HDR HC1 High Def camera for nearly all of the videos I have done here on IBB. It was a great camera and the quality was excellent, the problem is that the iLink or fire wire port on the camera itself busted and the computer does not recognize when its plugged in.

I figured it was the firewire cable itself as I have heard of them going dead before, I got that replaced only to find out that my cable was really just fine.

So I called up Sony to see how much it would be to repair the HDR HC1 and shockingly they want $500 to fix it! That’s half of what we paid for the camera originally… I was in shock to say the least.

Well I needed a camera so I did some research and looked up some info on the basic models in the $500 or less range and to my delight I came across the “Sony DCR-HC52 MiniDV Handycam Camcorder with 40x Optical Zoom” video camera. I looked it up on YouTube and it actually is excellent quality ONLINE so I can only imagine the quality of the camera when put on to DVD.

The camera also has a 40x zoom on it which is awesome, its like a telephoto lens right on the camera, as long as I use a tripod I can zoom right in to a bird sitting on a tree limb if I want with ease!

It also has some other cool features like night helper and stuff like that.

The camera cost me $252.00 off amazon after shipping and everything. Not to bad considering it would have been double that to repair the other camera that is no better quality wise.

Well that’s it, here is a video of me talking about the new camera and all the stuff above just in case you want to listen to me babble instead of reading :)
