I have seen rumors floating around the net about these people who believe you have to submit your site to the search engines directly! Today I am going to clear this myth up and show you why and how you can get in the engines without ever submitting to them!

I created a video cast on why I believe it to be best NOT to submit your website to the search engines directly. I thought it would also be important to create an actual article relating to that incase someone wants to read it instead!

Here are my top reasons to why I believe it’s a mistake to submit directly to the engines!

My first and probably most important reasoning behind my belief to not submit directly to the search engines is simple, think of the engines like a human. If a friend told you to go check this or that out because it’s really good, you would trust your friends advice over the advice of a third party that you have never met. In the same way submitting your site to the engines is like telling them to come check you out because you personally have something you believe the engines want. Instead focus on building quality content for your site / blog and get a few friends / family members to link and social bookmark your site. Nearly everyone has a face book or myspace these days and they are great links to grab from friends and family!

Secondly, when looking at things from a human perspective you can see how when submitting your site directly to them it looks as if your trying to prove something to them. But if they find you naturally they actually offer more authority directly to your site.
