Writing Your First Post

Today I am going to help the newer bloggers who are just getting into the swing of blogging. I have received the question below multiple times, I thought it would be a good time to cover it.

What is the best way to start off a blog? What should the first post be like? If I don’t have a great first post I am afraid I will lose potential readers in the future.

Is this true? I would appreciate any insight on this subject.

Your about to create your first post! Let me congratulate you for getting this far, the steps you have taken have turned a lot of wannabe bloggers off but those who go the extra mile are the ones who make it!

If you have not done any prior writing up to this point here are a few tips to follow when blogging.

  • Learn To Keep Your Posts Short And Sweet
  • Develop Your Momentum By Creating Series Of Posts
  • Get The Hang Of It By Simply DOING IT!
  • Stick To What You Already Know, The Great Bloggers Stick To What They Know

If you can learn to stick on topic with what you already know your probably going to be fairly successful. All of the top dawgs in any industry are individuals who do and talk about what they know. Providing false or inaccurate info not only wastes your readers time but it also puts you in jeopardy of looking like a newbie yourself. You should strive to make yourself appear as an authority. This way your visitors, friends and family will respect you enough to subscribe to your blog.

Now to answer the original question, creating the first post in your blog is really not that big of a deal. I would not recommended doing a OPENING POST that says something like…

Thanks For Checking Out My Blog, Be Sure To Subscribe As I Add More Posts!

This statement turns people off instead just start writing on your blogs subject. The more you write you will begin to develop a specific crowd to your site. Once your receiving decent traffic you can begin to monetize your site and offer a good RSS readership catch and all that stuff we talk about daily on our blog.

Stick to what you know and remember people are forgiving, if you make a mistake make a new post (extra content)  explaining your thoughts and ask for your readers thoughts so you can make it right.

They wont bash you or unsubscribe from your blog simply for having an opinion different then there own. In fact controversy is actually a great way to create buzz around your blog, learn to use that to your advantage and feel free to disagree and flame others on your own blog. It makes for entertainment that all your visitors will want to get in on!
