Have you ever wanted to review a product but didn’t want to lay out the dough to get the product? I am sure we have all been at that point some time or another. Things are about to take a turn for you if you continue reading on. Be warned that if you use this technique it may work for you and you might be up to your eye balls in products to review!
OK, So what in the world wide web am I talking about?
Today we are going to talk about the proper way to ask individuals or even major companies for products to review on our sites. In most cases we can receive products without even trying, the only effort you have to put in is to write a personalized email to the company explaining your needs.
How you ask is the key to success, over my years of Internet marketing I have tried multiple ways of asking. I have tried ancient methods such as phone, fax, live chat etc… But one method keeps bringing me back because it works! Email is the way of life these days, we can’t live without it and we shouldn’t. Email is the new and best way of communication, without email our world would be so less connected. I assume this is why the Internet and email itself was created, we all want to connect.
Enough Jibber, Jabber! How do we ask? Well instead of just telling you what to say let me show you an example of an email I sent to DailyBlogTips requesting his ebook called Killer Domains to review which we have done right here.
Hello Daniel, I am always looking for great products to review for my readers and I believe your latest e-book is a perfect fit with what I do. Please let me know if you would be interested in giving us a free copy of your e-book for review. In exchange we will review the content (Without Revealing Your Secrets) for our readers! I believe you could make several sales out of the deal.Let us know!Shannon Lilly
I find its best to stick with a safe method rather then going full steam ahead one way or the other.
Secondly I praised his product and said I believe its a perfect fit with what I am already doing well. You may also notice I never mentioned the word “free” till the 3rd sentence, generally speaking people (me) close emails that say the word free within the first couple of words. The word “free” has been overused on the Internet and its a mistake to mention it multiple times and especially in the beginning of a conversation. Do your best to refrain from using the word more then 1-3 times in a full paragraphed email.
The next step I take within the letter is a simple one, I am now telling them what I will do in return for a copy of the ebook. This assures them that they will be getting something out of the deal, it helps them believe in you and trust what you say now and in the future. Now that I have built that trust I mention that by giving me the product I believe I can generate sales for him through my review! This assures them once again that I am legit and mean serious business.
That’s all their is to it, I could provide more examples of successful emails I have sent however this one alone is solid proof that the old saying “You Do Not Have Because You Do Not Ask” is still true to this day. The only thing that old saying doesn’t tell you is how to ask the right way but no matter, I just did!

Wow, you have tons of great advice… I am wanting to start reviewing link building services for my customers, but many cost a lot… so I will be definitely asking for review copies of different ebooks and services, etc.
